My Mother's youngest Sister, Margaret Gove was in the WAAF during WW2. She died in the 1970's, and although I remember her well, I know nothing of her wartime service, where she was stationed, what she did Etc. Her parents were Munro Gove & Bridget Gove (MS Watt), and she was born in Kincardineshire, Scotland. She never married, and lived in Epsom, Surrey after the war.

Any ideas as to where I might get more information??

Since then, I've found out a wee bit more information.

For example, it is Bridget Campbell and not Elizabeth as I first thought.

I've also found a record in the Scottish census of 1861 for Stonehaven, which gives -

Bridget - head, age 44, born Ireland
Nancy - Daughter, age 21, born Ireland
John - Son, age 19, born Ireland
Charles - Son, age 16, born Ireland
Thomas - Son, age 13, born Linlithgowshire - there is no such county in Scotland!
Mary - Daughter , age 8, born Stonehaven.

No mention of Thomas senior. However, on Bridget's death record in 1869, it states that she is married to Thomas Dorian, labourer. This asumes Thomas is still alive otherwise she would be described as "widow of. . ." I can find no death record for Thomas anywhere in Scotland.

I then started looking at the old parish records for Linlithgow (town) area of Scotland for a birth record of Thomas junior, without success. I then wondered if perhaps the family were of the Catholic faith since they came from Ireland, and when I looked at the Catholic archives, BINGO, there he was. There is a record of his birth and baptism it the records of St Francis Xavier's church in Falkirk!

This now leads on to the next questions -

What happened to Thomas senior? Did he go back to Ireland after the death of Bridget, or since Bridget is described as head of the household in the 1861 census, had he "disapeared" prior to this?

My g-grandmother was Agnes Ann Dorian, who would have been the same age as Nancy. Are Agnes and Nancy the same person?

Is there anywhere on line that I can search the Irish Catholic records? I am almost sure that they came originally from Letterkenny in Donegal.

I'm trying to find any record of a marriage between James Begg and Mary Christison.

Here's what I have so far -
James must have been born around 1788, probably around Angus/Kincardineshire, but if anyone can find a birth record for him I'd be most grateful.

 He died on 22 Jan 1859 age 72 when he fell off the gable end of a house that was being demolished in the parish of Fettercairn. His parents are given as James Begg & Margaret Hogg

Mary Christison was born about 1808 in Edzell and died on 23 May 1882 in Fordoun.

They had at least one child, Martha Begg (my G-Grandmother) born 2 Sep 1837 in Fettercairn.

Any information on this family most welcome.

Can anyone fill in the blanks, and do you agree with what I've got so far.
