Ancestral Family Tree DNA Testing / No Matches on Family Tree DNA
« on: Monday 16 September 24 13:41 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
Some time ago I uploaded my Ancestry DNA to Family Tree DNA.
As a non subscribing member I was able to see my matches until this morning when I discovered that I have "No Matches".
Anyone know of any problems?

The Common Room / Billion Graves

I see that the above are now charging an annual fee before the gravestone can be viewed.
I understood that the photographers were volunteers.

Hi,
Maybe it's me!!!
I have often used SP in the past but looking at the records now I only see an option to purchase "CERTIFICATES" at £15.
Not "COPIES"
Am I missing something?

Ancestral Family Tree DNA Testing / LivingDNA
« on: Thursday 06 February 20 20:26 GMT (UK)  »

I recently completed a DNA tested with Ancestry. As many of you will be aware there many "matches" Of course most of the matches were very low cM counts.
I uploaded to Heritage and familytree DNA with the same result.
Two weeks after uploading to Living DNA - not a single match!
Convinced that there was a problem with the upload and after several e mails to their support, I was advised that there was indeed not a single match.
Has any one experienced this?

Ancestral Family Tree DNA Testing / What would a 51% DNA match infer?
« on: Saturday 30 November 19 12:48 GMT (UK)  »

A friend whose husband is from Crete recently got his DNA results which show him as 51% Italian.
Now I know that there were close Greek links to Sicily and southern Italy thousands of years ago.
But this seems a high percentage. I don't the family history or if there are any possible Italian links.
I don't know the DNA company he used.
What suggestions please?

World War One / Would he have kept the same number?
« on: Sunday 10 November 19 23:49 GMT (UK)  »
Hello,

My query is this.

I have found a medal record of some one serving in China with the 20th Hussars 1900.
I also have also found some one of the same name (Mahady) and army number joining the RHA in 1914.
Is this possible? I am unsure if he had any service in between these dates.

World War Two / Death Certificate for seamen killed in action
« on: Wednesday 06 March 19 16:33 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

A friend needs to obtain a death certificate for his grandfather who was killed in 1942 following a u boat attack on a British merchant ship.
What would be his best course of action to obtain this?
