« on: Sunday 20 March 05 07:42 GMT (UK)  »
ELLEN BARWELL, born between 1804 and 1811 (records give different ages).

Census records say she was born in Emsworth, Hampshire. If anyone is looking through the

1) Baptisms, would they please keep an eye out for her.

2) Marriages, she married an Edwin James MARQUET, could be in Emsworth or London (that's where he came from) but I haven't found a London marriage,

Thank you so much, bye for now Doreen

Somerset / 1881 Prisoner JOHN NEAL
« on: Sunday 03 October 04 08:32 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

In 1881 John Neal was a 24 year old prisoner in "H M Gaol Residence Ho." Cumberland Rd. He was doing 2 lots of 6 weeks hard labour for petty larceny.

What I would love to know are the details of his court case and if there was a photo taken of him at the time of his arrest.

Any advice or help, gratefully received. I live near Manchester and cannot travel to Somerset. Bye for now, Doreen

Somerset / Keynsham, Temple Street.
« on: Sunday 03 October 04 08:24 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
I am looking for old photo's of a place no longer there. It is Temple Street, opposite the Ship Inn, I believe it may have been number 59 or 58. Their son Frank Neal, was still in the house in (about) the 1910-20's.

My family of NEAL (E) had lived there for many years, if anyone is researching this family and has any photos of them or the area they lived in, I would be truly pleased to see them.  :)

Bye for now, Doreen.  :-*

Derbyshire Lookup Requests / Glossop family in Calver
« on: Sunday 03 October 04 00:44 BST (UK)  »
Hi, This is a long shot but here goes.

HARRIET Glossop aged 34 in 1871, is a housekeeper in Salford. She says her place of birth is CALVER. On her wedding certificate she says her father is JOSEPH Glossop, a farmer.

I have checked the IGI and all Joseph Glossops children are christened in BASLOW, last one was in 1833.

The only Harriet christened on 27 May 1837 is to a HANNAH Glossop. Joseph does have a Hannah but she died a few days after her birth.

How do I find out who is Harriet's father, was Joseph her Grandfather and was Harriet illigitimate?

All help gratefully received. Bye for now, Doreen

Photo of Whiteman's Buildings Wanted.

These buildings were on Altricham Street, Manchester, where UMIST is now.

There was a Graeby (sic) Place next to it, according to the old map image I have.

I have tried a nice chap at UMIST, no luck there and I am awaiting a reply from Manchester Archives, if you have any other suggestions for a contact, please let me know.  :)

Bye for now, Doreen.
