Bedfordshire Lookup Requests / Roadnight marriage in Leighton Buzzard in 1829
« on: Monday 10 June 19 17:19 BST (UK)  »
I'm looking for the details of the marriage entry of Joseph ROADNIGHT who married Sarah RICHARDSON on 5th November 1829 in Leighton Buzzard. I can only find the marriage on Familysearch, I would like to know whether the marriage entry states where Joseph Roadknight was from. I have an inkling he was from Warwickshire but as yet can't find any proof.

Many thanks,
Judy

Roscommon / Michael Coyne and Rose McGovern and family 1825 - 1850
« on: Thursday 03 March 16 13:14 GMT (UK)  »
The following family moved to Walsall, Staffordshire in England during the late 1840's - 1851:

Michael Coyne born c1808 and Rose/Rosa McGovern born c1811 - I believe they were born in Roscommon as two of their children stated this on later censuses. Their children are:

Peter Coyne - born c1833 (stated born Roscommon)
John Coyne - born c1835
Ellen Coyne - born c1835
Mary Coyne - born c1837
Michael Coyne - born 1842 (stated born Roscommon)

With the arrival of the Catholic indexes during the past few days I was hoping to find at least a baptism for one of the children or the marriage of Michael to Rose but have failed miserably.

Please can anyone point me in the right direction? Are there many Roscommon catholic registers for this time missing from the new indexes on FindMyPast and Ancestry? Has anyone come across any members of this family in their research?

I have the family on all the censuses from 1851+ in England and have the Walsall RC records that name Michael Coyne and Rose McGovern on various entries however I just can't find anything yet in the Irish records.

Thanks,
Judy

Lancashire / Help needed on Ellen Coupe/ Cope possibly born Balderstone
« on: Tuesday 17 September 13 16:01 BST (UK)  »
My husband's GG Grandmother is Ellen COPE/COUPE possibly born in Balderstone circa 1815, she is proving very hard to track down. She is named as the mother of Henry WILCOX of Walsall, Staffordshire on his birth certficate in 1851 - the spelling of her surname being Copo, in 1858 it was Cope on her son James birth certificate. Both birth certificates imply she was married to their father James WILCOX however I just cannot find a marriage for the couple. On the 1851 census she was in Walsall as Ellen COPE, born Balderston, Lancashire and was housekeeper to James WILCOX. In 1861 she was Ellen WILCOX born Brodston, Lincolnshire and in 1871 she said she was born in Walsall. She died in 1874.
I have found a possible baptism that fits nicely in Balderstone - Ellen Coupe bap 1815 d/o Richard and Jane COUPE (nee Anderton)but am not 100% sure that this is correct as I don't definitely know the name of Ellen's father. The mother Jane died in Balderstone in 1831 and was buried in Samlesbury as was daughter Elizabeth/ Betty who was buried in Samlesbury in 1818. Richard & Jane's son George (born 1819) stayed in Balderstone and married Mary Sowerbutts BUT I don't know what happened to Richard (born c1795) and his daughter Jane (born 1824 Balderstone), they are together in Mellor Brow in 1841 but after that they disappear into thin air.
Any help with this family will be greatly appreciated as I'm just going nowhere with them.

Derbyshire / Timothy Pegg and family?
« on: Monday 30 April 12 12:26 BST (UK)  »
My 4x G grandmother ANN PEGG married Peter Sykes on 24 Sep 1790 at Loughborough, Leicestershire. According to her death certficate she was born about 1764. I just can't find a baptism for her but my one clue is that one of her marriage witnesses was TIMOTHY PEGG. I believe there was only one TIMOTHY PEGG around at this time as that is the one born in Melbourne in 1770. He was born in Melbourne but married in Kegworth in 1800 before moving back to Melbourne (unless there were 2 Timothy Pegg's?). Even if he was living in Kegworth he made at least a 6 mile trip for Ann's marriage which makes me think he must have a close connection to my Ann. I've checked the online records (Baptist & Cof E) but it seems that Timothy didn't have a sister Ann unless other Pegg researchers know different?

There seems to be 2 Derbyshire PEGG  families in Loughborough in the 1700's - that of James who originated from Brailsford, then that of George & Dorothy- George came from Kirk Ireton. Ann doesn't seem to belong to either of them.

Any help finding a link between Ann and Timothy will be greatly appreciated.

Warwickshire / WYCHERLEY of Compton Winyates and Shropshire
« on: Saturday 26 November 11 23:20 GMT (UK)  »

I'm researching the family of Thomas Wycherley who had children in Myddle and Albrighton from 1700 - 1705 and then was the steward to the Earl of Northampton at his Compton Winyates estate in Warwickshire from approximately 1724. This is what I have so far:

Thomas Wycherley married Mary Bradshaw in Shrewsbury in 1700, Thomas was a husbandman. They had these children:

Ignatius-  born 1700 Myddle, died 1720 Albrighton nr Shrewsbury

Violetta - born 1703 Myddle, married Richard Watkins in Compton Winyates (my 7x gr grandmother)

Richard- born 1705 in Albrighton, married in Compton Winyates and like his father was a servant to the Earl of Northampton.

Thomas then had 3 children by Alice who seems to be his second wife but I cannot find the marriage:

Thomas - born 1724 Compton Winyates

James - born 1726 Compton Winyates

Cassandra - 1728 Compton Winyates

Does anyone know anything of this family or perhaps know where Thomas was born circa 1675?

Cheshire / ELLISON & BAKER of Middlewich brickwall
« on: Saturday 01 October 11 11:41 BST (UK)  »
My major brickwall for years now has been my ELLISON and BAKER line from Middlewich. My 3x G Grandfather John ELLISON married Maria BAKER at Middlewich church in 1823 and they had 4 children baptised there before moving to Ightfield (near Whitchurch), Shropshire in the 1830's. On all the censuses John stated he was born c1803 in Middlewich (Sutton, Clive, or Newton depending on the census) and Maria was born c1802 in Middlewich.I've checked the LDS filmings of Middlewich (PR's and BT's), the IGI and the Cheshire Parish Register project but have found nothing for either of them. The Maria Baker who pops up in Chester on the IGI and Cheshire PR project isn't mine as she died as a baby, also the John Ellison born in Bowden isn't mine as many LDS members have him married to someone else. An Ellison 2nd cousin remembers his Dad saying there may be a Yorkshire link somewhere!
Any help placing John ELLISON or Maria BAKER will be greatly appreciated.

Shropshire Lookup Requests / Broseley Marriage
« on: Thursday 30 June 11 00:12 BST (UK)  »
The IGI has a marriage at Broseley on 21st November 1790 for ANNE BOTFIELD to FRANCIS GOLDEN.

I'm particularly wondering if Anne Botfield may be a widow and therefore may possibly my 5x G Grandmother. She will still be related to me in some even if she's not my 5x G Grandmother

If anyone is visiting Shropshire Archives please could they look up this marriage? It will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Judy

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Manchester Cathedral Marriage - lookup completed
« on: Tuesday 09 November 10 10:50 GMT (UK)  »
I would be really grateful if someone could check this marriage at Manchester Cathedral for me:

18 April 1852
John Brandham* PRIESTHAM to Hannah CLARKE

*I've found this on Family Search but they call John John Bradshaw Priestman

What I'm really interested in are the names of the fathers and the witnesses as I need to know whether I have the right Hannah Clarke

Many thanks,
Judy
