He had been living in London area since 1871.  He was a carpenter birthday 8th June 1862. He is on the 1939 Census  6 Rojack Road, Lewisham living with his married son, John Henry Taylor and family. All birthdays of this family fit.  William Joseph is down just as William Taylor, Retired.  His son left for Australia with family in 1952 so assume he went after his widowed father passed away.  I have ordered a few death certs for that area and time but if death not witnessed by relative they dont help. Cant figure out if he was buried under the name of just William Taylor, Retired.......instead of William Joseph Taylor, Retired Carpenter. Any assistance greatly appreciated........from Oz

Can anyone help me please.  I live in Oz.  I have been trying to find what happened to my grandfather(he never knew his son, my father). The story my grandmother told was absolutely zilch.  My father died at the age of 80 never have known what happened to his father.   I have ordered many death certificates etc to no avail but Ancestry suddenly have come up up with one that could be him.  I received it today:

Registration Dist.  Islington  - Upper Holloway
William Leonard Taylor
Died: 3 Dec 1934 at the Archway Hospital
47 yrs of age
of 144 New North Road, Islington
No occupation
Cause of death: Pulmonary Tuberculosis (no P.M)
Witness: W.J. Taylor of same address

Now the age is spot on, he did originally come from Islington and his father was William Joseph Taylor.
I have looked at the National Archives but they have no patient info.

William Joseph Taylor and his family emmigrated to Canada in 1905 but my grandfather returned and married my nan in 1913.  By the time my Dad was born in Oct, 1914, his father had left.  Having read this death certificate, I now see, if this is him, his father must have come back to Islington at some stage.

Can anyone suggest how I can confirm if this is my grandfather please?

Any assistance much appreciated.   Susan

Gloucestershire Lookup Requests / William Joseph Taylor Birth Bristol 1861
« on: Tuesday 19 January 10 22:59 GMT (UK)  »
Can anyone help please.?  I am looking for a William Joseph Taylor who, according to his marriage certificate, was born abt 1861 - Bristol, Gloucestershire.  He married in Clerkenwell in 1882.  He did not always use his middle name......

His parents hopefully were Henry Taylor (carpenter by trade) and Mary Ann Blake.Henry born in Barnstaple Devon and Mary Ann in Redcliffe Bristol.

Now Henry and Mary Ann were in London by 1871 with all the family.  Some of their children appear to have been bap about five years after birth.

I have invested in a couple of certificates but had no luck and as I live in Australia, it is a bit difficult to trot over to Bristol......The Somerset/Gloucestershire thing confuses me.

My tree on Ancestry is The Taylor Family so if anyone can help, it would be much appreciated.  On my tree, hopefully, you can follow my trail from London to Bristol and give me an opinion if you think I have gone astray........with deep appreciation.....Susan
