FH Documents and Artefacts / Birth certificate for adopted
« on: Tuesday 21 April 20 22:06 BST (UK)  »
Trying to help a friend , they found out in 2018 they were adopted now 28 years old ...she has a birth cert with the name her birth mother gave her but mothers name and fathers have been totally blanked out ..we believe it was someone within the family who "adopted her " but they refuse to disguss anything regarding her birth or parents ..the thing that puzzles is would she only have had that birth cert or would she have been given a new one with her new name etc ..also she has tried to obtainn her adoption records but was told they are "locked " dont know what this means ? the other thing is would she be able to search freebmd to find her birth registration in the hope of finding a name for either of her birth parents (she has been trying to piece one or two things and thinks she has a surname ) but would it besearchable or when someone is adopted are they registerd in a private register ...hope this makes sence and that someone may be able to explain Adoption ..
                            thanks for any pointers
