Armagh / HARRISON Ballyhannon Armagh
« on: Saturday 10 October 09 08:42 BST (UK)  »
Searching for info about the people and the place of Ballyhannon. I am looking for Harrison's and Marshall's there and also McLeans (though may be Greenock based).

James Harrison married to Margaret Marshall. Sons John b.   1884, James, Isiah and Thomas b. 1899 (my grandfather, m.1925  Martha McLean) Family moved to Greenock.

Would like to find dates for James and Margaret and their  ancestors. Any help would be welcome! Cheers, Elz x

Renfrewshire / HARRISON (Greenock)
« on: Sunday 15 February 09 12:35 GMT (UK)  »
I know my mothers family all lived in Greenock and her parents or grandparents may be from Northern Ireland. She was May Harrison born 1/2/1937or8 and I know she had sister Martha brother Thomas and some others, three of whom died in a drowning accident at Greenock. She married John Johnston and moved to Whitehaven, Cumberland where she died   25/11/07. Her mother died when she was aged 9 and her father when she was about 14. I would like to find out anything about her parents, grandparents and her siblings and where they lived.
Any help appreciated!

Durham / SHEEHAN (Seaham) JOHNSTON (Whitehaven)
« on: Sunday 15 February 09 11:54 GMT (UK)  »
My Grandad Robert Johnston married my Grandma Eleanor Sheehan in Whitehaven, Cumberland. Eleanor Sheehan was born (spelling?) c.1903, Seaham? died 2/3/62 in Whitehaven,Cumberland. She moved to and lived in Egremont, Cumberland because I worked there once and Grandad said he used to walk there and back to see her! He thought her family were from the North East and I have reason to believe it may have been Seaham? I know absolutely nothing of this side. I know she was a Catholic and I am guessing its an Irish surname? They had two children together (John and Joan). One of the strangest things...I moved to the north east and we frequently go to Seaham for the coast!

George Johnston b. c.1869   9 Little Scotland.
Annie Murray wife b. c.1871                m. c.1890?
Robert Johnston b.14/9/08              d. 31/1/93

ELEANOR SHEEHAN c.1903     m.Robert in?       d.2/3/62

I would like to find any trace of the Sheehan family and find out what date she moved to Egremont.

Any help appreciated! Eleanor Johnston King, Durham UK

Cumberland / JOHNSTON & MURRAY (Whitehaven) SHEEHAN (Egremont)
« on: Sunday 15 February 09 11:33 GMT (UK)  »
This is the first place I have posted and the very start of my searches! Apologies if this is the wrong way to begin posting! I was born and bred in Whitehaven (1967!) and want to trace my Grandads line backwards. Robert Johnston born Whitehaven in 14/9/1908 died 31/1/1993, parents George Johnston c.1869 (coal hewer, 9 Little Scotland) and Annie Murray c.1871. I know nothing of the Murray family at all. They had children (John Edward James John George William Harold Arthur Jane Annie Lena Lily Mary and Robert) Robert was in the Navy for years and later worked for a bacon company, then care taker at the College. This is all I know about the Johnstons, except that Robert married my Grandma Eleanor Sheehan (spelling?) c.1903, died 2/3/62 who lived in Egremont because I worked there once and Grandad said he used to walk there and back to see her! He thought her family were from the North East and I have reason to believe it may have been Seaham? I know absolutely nothing of this side. I know she was a Catholic and I am guessing its an Irish surname? Apparently she made confectionery and cakes! They had two children together (John and Joan).

George Johnston c.1969   9 Little Scotland.
Annie Murray wife c.1871                m. c.1890?
Robert Johnston b.14/9/08              d. 31/1/93
Eleanor Sheehan c.1903     m.?       d.2/3/62

Any advice of where to try first is very welcome! :)
Cheers Eleanor Johnston King,
