Hello
I am wondering if someone would be able to date these 2 photos. Taken in Clapham, I believe part of the Hewson family. Same studio. Not sure if taken the same time as the background seems to be different.
Thanks

Australia / PROV inquest file
« on: Friday 24 June 16 01:47 BST (UK)  »
I was wondering if there is a way to see if PROV hold an inquest file from 1900.  I'm in Brisbane so can't go to the records office and I know they don't actually do lookups but is there anyway online I can confirm there is a file?

Thanks
Mel.

I was wondering if anyone would be able to tell me what one of the columns means on the NSW unassisted passenger lists. The columns are :Seamans name, Station, age and Of what nation.

What does the second column mean? Station? I can't read what is written in the column to have any idea what this column is exactly for

Hi

I have found some land records held with the State Records NSW but held at University New England and regional archives, Armidale.
I was wondering if anyone had found records through them? Just not sure how to go about trying to get copies of these records. I'm in Brisbane so am not able to actually go to the archives.

Thanks

Australia / Nsw land selector records
« on: Friday 24 July 15 12:12 BST (UK)  »
Hi

I was wondering if anyone knows of records of land purchases in the late 1870's around the inverell area. I have a William Brown who in abt 1876 became naturalised and on the cert the reason was to purchase land. In his daughters death cert from 1914 his occupation is listed as Selector.

Would there be records of Selectors at all?

Thanks
Mel

Australia / NSW Immigration Deposit Journal Timothy McDonald
« on: Saturday 31 January 15 10:02 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

I have come across my family in the NSW Immigration Deposit Journal in 1858. I have attached a copy of the journal and am just a little confused as to exactly what this journal is.  I believe it is to do with someone paying their passage to Aust, but I can't quite read what it says on the right hand side of the page.  Looks something like "Recommended on ....". It lists Timothy, his wife Margaret and children, Jeremiah, Thomas, Timothy, Catherine and Mary.

Is anyone able to shed any light for me and should they also appear on a passenger list somewhere as I can't seem to find them anywhere.

Hopefully the attachment will appear ok.

Thanks
Mel.

London & Middlesex Lookup Requests / London Metropolitan Archives Lookup
« on: Friday 23 January 15 02:02 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

I was wondering if anyone would be heading to the LMA in the near future.  I live in Australia so am unable to do the research myself but am looking for some records from St Giles Hospital Infirmary.

I am looking for details of LOUISA CROFT, of whom I have a death cert dated 31 March 1890 in the Camberwell Infirmary (which is also St Giles Hospital)

I have searched the LMA website and believe the record of her death would be in the below Files.

Title   Register of deaths
Reference Code  H38/SG/B/07/002

Level  File
Date  1885 Jan-1893 Dec
From Collection    SAINT GILES' HOSPITAL, CAMBERWELL
Saint Giles' Hospital opened in 1873 as Camberwell Workhouse Infirmary on a site adjoining the Havil Street Workhouses. Extensive new hospital buildings were erected between 1899 and 1903 by Camberwell Board of Guardians on part of the s...

Hopefully in the death records would be when she was admitted to the hospital and then the records of her admission may be able to be found.

If anyone would be kind enough to do my request I can message through more details.

thanks

Mel.

Australia / Coroners inquests NSW
« on: Sunday 18 January 15 11:43 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

I have found on ancestry a register of coroners inquest for William H Brown in 1900 who died in Port Macquarie, which has details of death etc but I was wondering if there would also be some type of file with documents from the inquest in as well.   If there is a file how would I go about getting a copy as I'm in Brisbane.

Thanks
Mel
