Surrey / Tom Arnall
« on: Wednesday 07 February 18 21:17 GMT (UK)  »
I'm trying to find any information on the early life of Tom Arnall.

The facts that I know are that Tom marries Elizabeth Ann Stokes in 1882 at West Ham this is the first time I come across Tom.

In the 1891 census p/n 1322 f 42 p 81 the family are living in West Ham,Tom is a Lighterman, age 32, and states that he was born in  Bermonsey, living with Tom and Elizabeth are three of their children and two of Elizabeth's brothers.

In the 1901 census p/n 1584 f 51 p 39 Tom and Elizabeth are still living in West Ham with 5 children and Elizabeth's brother Joseph and his wife Ellen. Tom is age 43 and again states that he was born in Bermonsey.

In the 1911 census the family are still living at the same address as in 1901 with 4 children and a niece Tom is age 53 and states he was born in West Ham.

In the 1939 register Tom and Elizabeth are still living at 11 Peter st. Tom states that he was born on the 1/8/1858 he is a Lighterman retired living with Tom and Elizabeth is their son William.

I have been unable to find a birth for Tom.

Tom dies on the 2/12/1942 in Romford.

In the 1881 census p/n 580 f 12 p17 there is a William Arnell age 33 also a Lighterman born in Bermonsey living in Rotherhithe.

Would anyone be able to give me any information on Tom prior to the marriage in1882

Essex / William Josiah Dixon and Mary Ann Ruffles
« on: Sunday 29 October 17 15:51 GMT (UK)  »
I'm trying to find more information on William Josiah Dixon and Mary Ann Ruffles they marry in 1871 in Poplar they could only have been 16 or 17 years old.

I have been unable to find them prior to the 1891 census RG12 1320 8 9 where they are living with their children the eldest William is 12 years old but I would assume they have older children because they have been married for 20 years, William states that he is a Stevedore and was born in Limehouse and Mary in Brentford.

In the 1901 census the family are living at Carkson Street, West Ham, William's occupation is now Marine A B? his P-O-B is St. Albans Mary's is still Brentford.

The only other facts I have found out concern same of their children, in 1909 their son Thomas Herbert marries Myra Arnall they have 5 children then Thomas dies in 1917, a year later Myra marries Thomas's younger brother Joseph Frederick and they have 4 children together I think Joseph may have been married before but have been unable to find details if he had been, because in the 1939 register Joseph born 9/4/1883 and living with Myra states that he is a widow and invalid disabled war pensioner.

William and Mary's daughter Alma married Charles Spratt at West Ham in 1913.

If anyone is able to provide me with more information on William and Mary it would be greatly appreciated.

Scotland / Irene Brown McMillan
« on: Saturday 07 October 17 15:24 BST (UK)  »
Would anyone know the names of the Parents of Irene Brown McMillan, it is believed that Irene was born in Glasgow ( when Irene dies in 1983 in Tower Hamlets London her date of birth is 18/6/1922)
Irene married Joseph Frederick Dixon also in Glasgow in 1942 and their first two children Robert William Dixon born 1943 and Stuart Archibald Dixon born 23/8/1947 were also in Glasgow.

From being given Brown as a middle Christian name I think her mothers maiden name could be Brown.

I found a marriage in 1913 between Alexander McCallum McMillan and Catherine Brown could anyone confirm that these are Irene's parents or have any other suggestions.

I would be grateful for any information.

Lincolnshire / Confused about a date of death for Arthur George Aylott
« on: Sunday 27 August 17 11:13 BST (UK)  »
This topic is about Arthur George Aylott who was christened on the 25/9/1859 at Great Hormead Herts.

By the 1901 census Rg13 271 15 21 under the surname Haylott, Arthur is living with his second wife Sarah his son Ernest from his first marriage and also his and Sarah's children Arthur,Emma,George, Frederick and Alexander also lodger William Williams.

I cannot find Arthur on the 1911 census.

By now Arthur's eldest daughter Ada from his first marriage has married William Williams they are living at 54 Stockdale Road Battersea London also living with them is Arthur and Sarah's son Frederick.

On the 28/7/1912 Arthur and Sarah's daughter Emma marries Joseph Minzey at Shoreditch London on the marriage certificate Emma does not state her father is deceased, I'm thinking that Arthur and Sarah are still living in Shoreditch which they were in 1901.

In 1915 on the 17 of March Arthur and Sarah's son George marries Martha Albin at Lewisham but I think this maybe under military circumstances because all I can find it under is military papers and there is nothing about Arthur on the papers.

On the 17/6/1918 Arthur's eldest daughter Ada marries her second husband Harry Palfrey at West Ham register office on the marriage certificate Ada states her father has died.

I can't find any death for Arthur between 1912 when Emma marries and 1918 when Ada marries.

On Ancestry on the family tree section a number of trees state that Arthur died in 1932 in Gainsborough I cannot find Arthur on the 1939 register.

Would anyone who has access to Gainsborough records be able to tell me details of the Arthur G Aylott who died in 1932.
