Durham Lookup Requests / Re: Whitburn Durham request
« on: Monday 04 October 10 21:55 BST (UK)  »
Is anyone able to do a lookup please of the burial record for Peter Fenton, died 1 Dec 1849, Whitburn.  Believed to have been buried St Mary's, Whitburn on 2 Dec 1849.  His death record states he was aged 84, but this does not add up.  Someone who I have now lost contact with said his burial record stated he was 65, which is more likely to be correct.  I would like to confirm what was written on the burial record please.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Renfrewshire / Andrew Millar b. c1827 Greenock, Scot - d. 1898 Ararat, Aust.
« on: Wednesday 04 August 10 00:38 BST (UK)  »
I'm searching in Greenock and surrounding area for a possible birth of Andrew Millar, born approximately 1827 in Greenock, Scotland.  He completed his daughter's birth registration in late 1869 and signed in his own hand, listing his age as 43 and birthplace as Greenoch, Scotland.
Andrew married Jane Sarah Percival of London (d/o William Percival & Jane Jewell) on 8 Jan 1853 at St Peters Church of England in Eastern Hill (Melbourne), Victoria, Australia.  They had the following children: Andrew 1856-1891, William Percival 1860-1941, Sarah Jane 1863-1903, George Adam 1864-1935, Edward Alfred 1866-1919, Albert Ernest 1867-1946, Emma Ann 1869-1947, Minnie Frances 1872-1962, Hugh 1873-? and John Henry 1876-1879.
We have been unable to find the arrival of Andrew into Australia, but know it was before January 1853.  If anyone is able to locate an Andrew Millar leaving Greenock for Australia before 1853 or had an Andrew among the siblings of their ancestor who immigrated that may help.
Andrew's occupation has been listed on various records in Australia as Miner, Carpenter and Labourer.  We know he worked mainly as a Goldminer in Ararat.  Like many before him, he may have been a ships carpenter who jumped ship in Australia during the gold rush.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.  More inforation on Andrew can be found on my Website.
Please DO NOT move this post to the Australian board as this is where I want it placed.
Thank you,
Diane

Wiltshire Lookup Requests / Emma FRUEN c1813 to 1875
« on: Monday 23 February 09 22:12 GMT (UK)  »
I am looking for the actual date of birth and godparnets if possible of Emma Fruen.  She was born about 1813, supposedly at St Martins, Salisbury.  Emma was the daughter of William Henry Fruen (b.1784 Gt Bedwyn) and Elizabeth Potter (b.c1786 St Martins, Salisbury) and married John Conduit in 1834.  Emma died in 1875 in Middle Woodford, aged 62 and was buried on 2/4/1875.
I have the following siblings for her with baptism dates at Fisherton Anger.
John Henry bap. 19/11/1815
Mary bap. 22/2/1818
James bap 5/10/1823
There may be other siblings still to find.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Diane

Wiltshire Lookup Requests / John CONDUIT c1812 to 1863
« on: Monday 23 February 09 21:45 GMT (UK)  »
I am trying to find the correct birth/baptism information for John Conduit.  According to the census and his death records, he was born about 1812 in Fisherton, Salisbury.  His baptism has not been found among the Church of England baptisms in Salisbury or any of it's 9 surounding parishes, including Fisherton Anger.
He married Emma Fruen (c1812-1874) on 8/11/1834 at St Clements, Fisherton, Salisbury.  I have a copy of the marriage record and John's death record.
John died 17/10/1863 and his death was registered in the Amesbury District, aged 51yrs.  He was buried on 21/10/1863 in Woodford.  His occupation was a Miller, Baker then Master Baker and Grocer.  Perhaps that was also the occupation of his father, as some of this sons followed the trade.
Many researchers have his parents as William Cundick/Conduit and Ann Spicer.  This is not the correct parents, as their John b. 1809, was not born in Fisherton and also died in 1810.  Others have William Conduit and Sarah Clark.  I don't believe this is correct also, because their John was born in 1806 and once again not in Fisherton.
Any help would be greatly appreciated and knowing the exact information on any documents found or how to get a copy of them may lead us a little closer to finding his parents.
Thank you.
Diane

Channel Islands Lookup Requests / John Drews/Druce & Martha Hardiman/Hardyman
« on: Thursday 28 February 08 01:00 GMT (UK)  »
I am searching for any record of John Drews/Druce or Martha Hardiman/Hardyman.  They married in Winsham, Somerset on 24/12/1820.  It is believed that they follow John's siblings Elizabeth Diment nee Drews/Druce, Isaac and Mary and mother Rebecca Drews/Druce nee Rawlings to St Peter Port in Guernsey.  It is unknown if his father also John Drews/Druce was still alive and went to Guernsey.
Any information to place John (also known as Jean) and Martha in the Channel Islands would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Diane
