Glamorganshire / Williams family at Llanrumney Hall, St Mellons
« on: Saturday 22 October 11 11:33 BST (UK)  »
Hi

Could anyone throw some light for me on the Williams family who lived at Llanrumney Hall, St Mellons during 1890s?

G C Williams was a JP living at Llanrumney Hall around this time and it would really help if I could find some information about him.

Thanks in the hope

Glamorganshire / Cardiff Records Office
« on: Wednesday 07 September 11 19:37 BST (UK)  »
Has anyone been to the Cardiff Records Office recently? I visited about a year ago with the intention of looking at parish records with fiche readers but unfortunately there were none. The staff were very helpful but everything had to be asked for which is different from the other ROs I have visited.

I am hoping to visit again soon but if there are still no readers then I won't bother.

Occupation Interests / Coal Shepper?
« on: Wednesday 02 February 11 15:12 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

Does anyone have any idea what a 'Coal Shepper' is?

It appears to be my gggrandfather's occupation on the 1851 Swansea Census and it would be good to know what he actually did.

US Lookup Requests / Philadelphia arrivals - JENKINS
« on: Saturday 08 January 11 14:41 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

I wonder if someone could look up the passenger lists for emigrants to Philadelphia for David Walter Jenkins around 1888?

Passenger lists are new to me so I am floundering a bit and would appreciate any help/guidance.

Info on David Walter Jenkins is that he was born around 1852, Swansea; it appears he deserted his wife and emigrated.

I have found him on a Philadelphia census in 1900 which is where I got the date of emigration -1888.

Thanks in the hope that someone can help.

Devon / John LETHBRIDGE, Inventor & Diver
« on: Monday 21 June 10 22:21 BST (UK)  »
Hi
Whilst visiting the museum at Newton Abbot recently, I came across an exhibition relating to John Lethbridge. He was born in Newton Abbot 1675 and died in 1759. During his life he invented and successfully used a diving engine with which he recovered many treasures from shipwrecks.

Unfortunately there were no details of his family tree other than giving his parents as John and Mary so I was wondering if anybody has him in their tree?

Monmouthshire Lookup Requests / look up - LLANTRISSENT
« on: Thursday 15 April 10 22:25 BST (UK)  »
Could anyone be so kind to look up the baptism of my ggrandfather - George Willliams (argh I know) but I have the following info from the 1871, 1881 and 1891 censuses:

George Williams born circa 1870 Llantrissent. Parents: Thomas Williams and Mary Ann

If I could find his baptism date then I would have a better chance of choosing the right birth cert on fbmd.

Thanks in the hope

Hi

I am looking for any info on the Eagles family which I have traced back to Gloucestershire around the 1800s.

The info I have:

John Eagles born 31/5/1819    pos. Kingstanley
His father was Richard  Eagles  born 12/8/1792 Stonehouse

Does anyone have any further info on this family?
