Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Date CdV of elderly woman
« on: Wednesday 06 March 24 18:28 GMT (UK)  »
I'd appreciate your thoughts on the date of this CdV please. I have others by Gibson on this cardstock, and in the 'vignette' format all dated to the late 1860's (notwithstanding the rounded corners of the card), so I was wondering if this is a similar vintage?

Also, how old do you think the woman might be please?

Thanks for any thoughts you might have.

I'd welcome your thoughts on this cabinet card by Thomas Milburn of Hexham (1871 - 1915). He was working as a photographer in Hexham by 1891 according to the census.

Judging by the sleeves on the ladies' outfits I was wondering if it might be mid-1890's?

No restoration or biographical details are needed  :)

I'd welcome opinions on the date of this one please.

My Jayne Shrimpton book leads me towards a mid-1860's date, but the cardstock seems rather later than that  :-\

(No restoration needed, and I do have full biographical details on Gibson)

I'd appreciate opinions on the date of this one please.

The design on the reverse depicts the newly created Beaumont Street and the Queen's Hall in Hexham , and must therefore post-date 1866.

I cannot work out the woman's headgear at all  :-\

Would I be right in thinking the photo is late 1860's?

No restoration needed, and I have full biographical details on the photographer  :)

I'd welcome your thoughts please on this CdV of a very suave looking young man.

I thought perhaps late 1860 - early 1870?

I would appreciate thoughts on the date of this CdV of a rather lovely lady.

I am wondering if it's early 1870's? McAllan had certainly gone over to round cornered mounts by the mid-1870's.

Am I right in thinking that this one is early-mid 1860's?

The woman is possibly holding a photograph - what do you think?

Thanks for any help you can give.

(No restoration needed  :) )

I'd really appreciate a date on this one by McAllan of Hexham please.
The back looks early 1870's to me. I don't have any others on this cardstock.
Expert guidance appreciated as always!

N.B. I do have full biographical details on this photographer.

This is wonderful!

Over 15.000 place names, indexed by parish, browsable and searchable, based on the notebooks compiled by the Royal Engineer surveyors while working o the First Edition 6" Ordnance Survey maps. There are also fascinating snippets of information about the places, gathered by the surveyors.

The project has taken over 5 years to complete.
