World War Two / Ernest Lees
« on: Thursday 06 August 20 11:20 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to trace for my cousin  a regiment for Ernest Lees in WW2.    We know he was in 1st Army because of his arm badge  -  a white shield with a red cross through it and a gold handled dagger.   I paid for a short membership of the Forces website put that did not help. and am also a member of Findmypast and Ancestry.   Find mypast  gave me four Ernest Lees records and loads of E. Lees.   If I could find where they have Date of Birth on a record then I would find him as I have his full date of birth - he was a butcher by trade and lived in Rochdale.    Not one of the databases appear to have this information.    Does anybody know which is the best way of finding out -  I had a quick look at the  National Archives but could not even get into the right place to start a search.    Thank you

Lancashire / Rochdale Cemetery
« on: Wednesday 05 August 20 16:33 BST (UK)  »
Hello  -  If any member plans to visit Rochdale Cemetery is it possible you could take a photo of a headstone for me.   I used to live in Castleton, Rochdale and drive there myself, but we have moved a some distance away and coronavirus has made it necessary for me and hubby to stay indoors.  Been inside since March.

The grave  has the names Charles and Sophie Whiteley - Fred and Sarah Ann Bottomley.   There are also cremated remains for two other Bottomleys - Florence and John Henry but not sure if these are going to be on the headstone.

The grave is number 23176 and is situated in Square R Plot 24  - I have attached a cemetery plan.   Hope somebody can help.   Thank you

Lancashire / Anfield Cemetery

I have several Hewitson's who moved from Gatehouse of Fleet in Kirkcudbrightshire.   They moved to the Liverpool area and whilst I have managed to locate some and their final resting place, there are others I cannot find.    I found on the Anfield Cemetery Liverpool Memorial Inscriptions Index the info below.    I am struggling to find the forename and year of death.   Can anybody advise how I can find the missing information.

Australia / Jeremiah Warburton
« on: Wednesday 27 March 19 10:18 GMT (UK)  »
I am looking for Jeremiah Warburton - I have him for sure on the 1871 census and possibly in Wales on the 1881 census,.   My Jeremiah was born c1831 in Rochdale, Lancashire.   The reason for my looking in Australia is because his daughter Elizabeth Ann emigrated there.

He was a Hatter by trade - his wife Ann died in Rochdale.  As far as I can gather - he had four children.  The first two born in Rochdale but the second two Edward and Elizabeth Ann were born
Cumberland and then Gloucestershire.

Any help would be welcomed
