Renfrewshire / McDonald Family, Paisley
« on: Friday 24 July 09 01:57 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

Having problems finding any record of William McDonald's birth in Paisley about 1830 and any record of his marriage to Mary Wilson also in Paisley in 1854. His death cert. from 1872 gives his parents as Angus McDonald and Janet Fairlie but I have been unable to find records for them either.
Accord to the census' 1861 and 1871 William worked in a soap work and lived in New Sneddon.

Can anyone help?

Anyone have any info on the location of this house, who lived there, why? and who ran it.? I have just found 2 of my grandmothers' sisters living there in the 1881 census for Paisley, Parish Paisley Abbey, aged 15 and 19. Both are occupied as bleachfield workers. There are around 60 female residents listed, ages ranging from12-72.

Cavan / Bernard Watters
« on: Monday 25 August 08 21:37 BST (UK)  »
Any info please on Bernard Watters, born around 1810, son of Denis Watters, (schoolmaster) and Agnes Murphy, and spouse of Mary Riley daughter of Patrick Riley, born also around 1810.  Oral family history tells of them meeting on the bridge between Blacklion, (Cavan) and Belcoo, (Fermanagh). Their first child was born in ayrshire in Scotland in 1839 but don't know if they got married in Ireland before coming to Scotland.

Thanks

Any info. please on John McNeil and Mary McIsaac, from St Quivox, (he may have been a tailor).  According to the LDS. info they had three children, Alexander, born 1809, Helen,1812 and Christian 1814. John and Mary may be on the 1841 scotland census but can't find any of their family on Scotlands people.  Would appreciate any info. Thanks, Rosie

Ayrshire / Charlotte Reid born 1809 St.Quivox Ayrshire
« on: Saturday 07 June 08 01:18 BST (UK)  »
The current Mary Charlotte Reid Mc Neil would dearly like to find our what became of her namesake. Charlotte Reid was born St. Quivox Ayrshire, 1809, daughter of  John Reid and Marrion Steel. She married Alexander Mc Neil in Eaglesham in 1828 though it would appear he was also an Ayrshire man. On their marriage cert. he describes his occupation as a gamekeeper and their first child Donald (1829) and perhaps a second child John was also born there (1831). Charlotte appears again in the 1841 census, living in Drymen in Stirling with another three children, Margaret, (1834), Agnes, (1836) and Alexander, (1839). She is 32 years old. Alexander her husband is not at that address at the time of census. Neither Charlotte or Alexander appear on the 1851 census and their children are living in Irvine, where John became a baker working with John Reid his uncle.

What happened to Charlotte and Alexander Mc Neil. I cannot find any record of their deaths on Scotlands People.

Would appreciate any info on this family. Thanks

I would really appreciate your
