« on: Thursday 27 August 20 10:18 BST (UK)  »
Hi Everyone
Mods - can you link this to Essex and maybe USA/Michigan please where we know this man had links.

Essentially I am looking for his death /burial / re marriage - anything but he is so elusive after 1932. There are 2 CLACHER families from Dunbartonshire and so I shall list what we know, which I hope may help one of you good folk help me find out what happened to Hector.
We think in or after 1932 he may have returned to the USA without his wife and family?

B - 19 Jan 1898 Dumbarton
1901 - 10 Rochead Place, Dumbarton with parents
4 June 1918 - RAF
10 Oct 1921 m - Dumbarton to Catherine CAMPBELL
1922 - Dumbarton - daughter Bernadette Maria CLACHER born
11 Aug 1922 Departs Glasgow for USA
19 Aug 1922 Arrives Canada
21 Aug 1922 Arrives Michigan USA
16 Mar 1923 wife and daughter depart Glasgow for Canada en route to Detroit
1924 Detroit - daughter Catherine Campbell CLACHER born
1927 Detroit daughter Gloria Ann CLACHER (aka Annie) born
1928 Detroit son James Paul CLACHER (aka Sonny) born

Hector did work for the Ford Motor Company in Detroit and possibly in Essex.

His wife and children frequently traveled between Dumbarton and Detroit until 1932.

His mother moved to Detroit after 1939 and died there as did some of his children. Therefore we assume strong links continued in Detroit after the family came back to UK in 1932

His wife is buried in Dumbarton D;6 March 1967

Any suggestions please?

Northamptonshire / Stranks - Greatworth, Brackley and beyond!
« on: Sunday 08 March 15 10:13 GMT (UK)  »
Hi everyone.
I am yet again looking to break down my STRANKS wall and turn to you all for some help please?
I have been on here before about this family but I now have new information and a fresh compilation of what I know which is below.

Jane STRANKS born circ 1820 Northamptonshire and baptised 12 Nov 1820 at St Peters, Greatworth (PR's). The entry states her mother was Mary, father not entered so he is lost forever.

Jane Stranks aged 20 B in Northamptonshire in the 1841 census at Middleton Cheney. She was an FS for  Mr & Mrs John Temperance Golby.
Jane then marries 31 Oct 1842 at St Peters Greatworth to William Waters - her fathers name and occ., are not entered on the Marr Cert.
Jane and William were my paternal 2 x Gt Grand parents.

I then track this couple until they both died in Middleton Cheney and I am happy with what I have.

It is Jane's parents I am looking at then, and I have stopped my search for her father but what of her mother Mary STRANKS?

Well I see in the 1841 census in The Row, Greatworth a Joseph Stranks aged 20 so B circ 1820 married to an Ann aged 25 - was this a twin or closely aged brother of my Jane. I think this may be likely as Jane, rather than marry where she was living in Middleton Cheney went back to Greatworth to get married in 1842 so did she have or feel there were close family ties to the village?
Who were this Josephs parents and is there a baptism for him and Mary in St Peters?

I see a marriage for a Mary STRANKS to Richard Booth 14 Sept 1844 in Brackley but sadly the couples age on the Marr Cert is entered as full age so impossible to know if it is my Mary after she had Jane - I actually dont think this is her - no evidence just a bit late on but.....

I cannot see these folks in the census albeit there is a farming family in Brackley called Stranks - Joseph and Mary with children at home but they already have a Mary there in 1841 who was born c 1821

Any ideas please?
Thank you for taking a read - sorry to go on a bit
