Sligo / Need RCB Library Researcher
« on: Saturday 12 February 11 18:06 GMT (UK)  »
Hi -

ANYONE A RESEARCHER USING THE RCB LIBRARY IN DUBLIN?

I need a lookup in the Emlaghfad (RCB labels it as Emlafad) C of I register for early MOORE family, with births around 1782. The registers begin at 1762. This is a parish in Sligo.

Anyone know of someone willing to do a pretty straight-forward examination of the registers for Emlaghfad?

Kirkcudbrightshire / Any resident from Haugh of Urr reading the site?
« on: Thursday 23 October 08 11:21 BST (UK)  »
Wondering if there is a local resident from the Haugh of Urr area reading this site? I am trying to do two things:
1. Find out WHEN HERMITAGE farm (just north of Haugh of Urr) was built - and whether it or OLD HERMITAGE (about 1.5km west) would have been the one to bear the label "Hermitage" in 1800.
2. Is there anyone who has or could send digital photos of HERMITAGE, OLD HERMITAGE and GLEN OF SPOTTES farms? I am trying to visualize them.
Thanks. Tom Moffatt

Kirkcudbrightshire / Thomas McGeorge - 1797 - URR Parish
« on: Monday 20 October 08 01:07 BST (UK)  »
I have a THOMAS McGEORGE born 1797 in URR Parish, according to his 1844 US Naturalization papers. Other details: He left Scotland 9 June 1817, and in the U.S. (Maine) first settled in Marion Township, Washington County, on 20 Dec. 1826. May 3, 1835 he moved to East Machias township, settling about nine miles north of the town, where the railway tracks cross Route 191.
ANY IDEAS on his parents?  I suspect from records perhaps he was from Hermitage farm, Spotts Estate (Michael Herries landlord). Any ideas welcome - Tom Moffatt
