World War Two / Help Deciphering RAF Service Record
« on: Wednesday 02 June 21 12:05 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

I am researching RAF Aircraftman 1st Class Robert Ballantine Forbes and have just obtained his WW2 service record.

Under mustering it contains the entries:

3RC Padgate
7RC
1 BTU
HQ26Gp
Trans. Hayfield Sanitorium

Fairly new to looking at these records so any help with confirming the meaning of these abbrevs, and locations, esp last two, would be appreciated.

Many thanks

« on: Friday 30 November 18 09:52 GMT (UK)  »
Would anyone be kind enough to email me a recent hi-res photo of the Dunoon War Memorial for inclusion in the book we are writing about the Bo'ness War Memorial?

It relates to Private Andrew McLean, Royal Scots Fusiliers, 6th/7th Bn, service no: 43018, who appears on both Memorials.

Photo will be acknowledged.

Many thanks!

« on: Sunday 12 November 17 23:45 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

I wonder if anyone near Trinity Cemetery could oblige with a photo of the following headstone?

"William Gray, aged 40 years, was buried in the following Lair Number within Trinity Cemetery, Aberdeen on 10 January 1924: Section C, Number 7".

Can anyone identify the regiment of this Scottish soldier and possible date? Am I correct in thinking he is a Corporal? Many thanks.

This is Lawrence White, Service No: 5646, The Royal Scots att. to the Royal Warwickshire Regiment. He was killed at the Somme, France 20th December 1916, 100 years ago today.
He is my mate's great grandfather.
Some restoration of this image would be greatly appreciated, and colourisation would be an added bonus if anyone is willing?
Many thanks in anticipation.
All the best,
