Armed Forces / Unknown Man - Identification of Uniform
« on: Sunday 11 April 21 11:41 BST (UK)  »
Hello everyone

My cousin has this picture in the family collection of photos and we wonder if you can identify the uniform at all and timeframe?

He's possibly connected to the White Family of Upton Grey, Hampshire.

Many thanks :)

Hi everyone

Please could I have your thoughts on the date of this photo?

I was told by someone it's 1860's but the person it has been identified as long ago is Edwin White, who was born in 1874. So as you can see there is a discrepancy in the timeline of the supposed person  ???

Cornwall / Perran - Where is this?
« on: Saturday 14 March 20 09:01 GMT (UK)  »
Hi everyone,

My ancestor is Elizabeth Curnow, neč Ball, (1808-1855) In the 1851 census for Mawgan in Meneage, Cornwall she states her birth place to be Perran, Cornwall.

I can't find a place just called Perran or a likely Baptism for Elizabeth?

Any ideas?

Thanks
Kieran

Cornwall Lookup Requests / Maker PR Baptism Lookup - 1810
« on: Tuesday 14 January 20 23:59 GMT (UK)  »
I've found a Baptism image in the Bishops Transcripts on familysearch.org which the Cornwall OPC have transcribed as Urst but I need to see the original PR entry to confirm if it was actually West.

The transcription is for Jane Urst at Maker on 18th Feb 1810. However I'm hoping it should be Jane West.

I'd really appreciate it if a kind person could look up the original Baptism in the Maker Parish Registers please?

Library and FHS Lookups / Lewisham Local History Centre Lookup
« on: Saturday 09 March 19 01:48 GMT (UK)  »
I'd really appreciate a lookup at Lewisham Local History Centre for a burial at Deptford St.Paul's. I have found evidence of his death from a pension claim, I can't locate a certificate but this was the local Church the family used.

William Woodhead
Died 28th April 1854
Of Old King St. Deptford

Around the same time his daughter disappears, Mary Robinson between 1854-1858 but again no death certificate. She was also of Old King Street, Deptford.

Would be really grateful if anyone going there might look them up as I cant visit and they have not been scanned or indexed from what I can see.

Thank you in anticipation  :)

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Finally found evidence of death, but....
« on: Monday 25 February 19 22:29 GMT (UK)  »
For years I've been unable to locate the death of one of my 5 x Great Grandfathers, William Woodhead. I can not find a match in the GRO indexes nor a burial from deceased online or any other leads from various web sites, however tonight I finally found a document on The National Archives which pin points his death to 28th Apr 1854 from a claim his wife is making against the Royal Navy for whom he worked for.

Can anybody read what it says under the date of death in the top right corner?? I don't know if it is anything to do with where he died as that is still a mystery.....

I'm so happy to finally solve the mystery of when he died but would really like to locate where now.
