The only thing i can find is it means a specias family name for two breeds of Hyena's  surely no one would name there child after Hyena's lol they are not the nicest creatures.

Hi

I wonder if anyone can help I am trying to find info on an ancestor Sarah Graham nee McCrea.  Sarah and her husband Robert Graham had a Gents outfitters shop in Dublin sometime between 1890 and 1920.  Their names were above the shop and i know they lived in Stephens Green and Roebuck Dundrum.

Any help on this would be great

Lanarkshire / Death at Foreshall Hospital
« on: Saturday 13 February 10 16:59 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

My Gt. grandfathers brother died in Foresthall Hospital in 1954 he had been a down and out and was disowned by the family.  I was wondering where he would most likly have been buried i am guessing the hospital must of organised this as his brother had not had any contact with him from the 30's.  How would i find out where he was buried and would the grave be marked or would there be a plot where all the poor were just buried i have no idea on cemeterys and the like but i am looking for as much info as i can on this ancestor as he has been quite the mystery.

Thanks Louise :D

Graveyards and Gravestones / Poor ancestors where to find graves
« on: Thursday 11 February 10 20:44 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

I have no idea on where to start with this.  I have found two ancestors who had spent a good part of there lifes in the poorhouse.  The first was in Barnhall in Glasgow he died there in the 1950's when it had change to a old peoples place and was called Foresthall hospital the other also died at 15 Craw road Paisley i have read that this was either a asylum or poorhouse maybe both.  He also died in the 50's when i think it was more of a hospital i know thre family had disowned them and i was wondering what happened to people who died in thes places did the hospitals bury them or just cremate them all.

Thanks
Louise
