Dublin / Jordan Dublin (All)
« on: Tuesday 22 September 09 15:37 BST (UK)  »
 Hi,

I'm researching the family tree & am keen to know more about the Jordan family in Dublin.
My grandad was William Jordan & he married Annie McDonald who recently died. William was 1 of 21 children, not all living. I know 1 brother, Thomas died aged 29 from TB. Another brother, Nicholas had a hump. Another brother, Joseph was known as Sophie for some unknown reason. He married a Lily Foyle from Carnlough Road, Dublin & they moved to England. Another brother, Paddy was a captain in the Irish Army & lived in a big house in Clontarf. Paddy had a daughter, Anna that I know of. I'd love to find her in particular.
 Thanks.

Dublin / Bovenizers Dublin ( All )

 Hi,
I'm researching my family tree & trying to find any Bovenizers who might be related to me.
My gran's maiden name was McDonald.1913-2009. Her mum was Annie Bovenizer & she was married to James McDonald. They lived at Cardiff Cottage in Finglas when my gran was born. I've looked at the 1911 census but can't find them on it. Maybe I'm not looking in the right place.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Armed Forces / Captain Paddy(Patrick) Jordan
« on: Tuesday 22 September 09 13:29 BST (UK)  »
I've just found out that my great uncle Captain Paddy Jordan was in the Irish Army & died when he was in his 90's. I Googled his name & found a reference to him on the Irish Times website. Only problem is, I couldn't read the full article as I don't have subscription to the paper.
Does anyone have any info on him for me please? My mum'd love to know more about him. All we know is he was a Captain in the Army & lived in a big house in Clontarf.

I'm getting great help in the search for mr G Grandad Davis, much appreciated.
Mums asked if I can try to find out a bit about her side of the family now. Again, almost nothing to go on but worth a try.

My gran was Annie Jordan nee McDonald. She married William Jordan in 1931.She would've been 96 on the 17th August this year.
Her mum was Annie Bovenizer & she married James McDonald. Her mum was also called Annie but don't have any other info on her etc.
Annie & James McDonlad lived in Cardiff Cottage Finglas when my gran was born.
I know it's like looking for a needle in a haystack but I know if anyone can find them for me, you lot can.

Dublin / Lookup please. Great grandfather Davis

I've not posted on here before but thought it worth a try.

Researching the family tree & would love any information on my dad's grandparents on his mums side.

 William Davis 1889-1965. From Dublin
Mary Davis    no dates for her. Was told she was a similar age to William though. From Tipperary.

William was in the British Army, based at Beggars Bush. Served in Bombay, India 1939-1945. Mary was out there with him. Have been told he was a Sergeant Major. Definately was an instructor of some sort. My uncle still has Williams whistle with 1916 on it.
Have been told by dad's older brother that Mary was pregnant when they went to India & that the baby was born aboard ship. Also, that another child was born in India. Not sure of any dates for this though & assume they had a previous posting abroad as they would've been about 50 in 1939.
They lived at 50 Mountjoy Square in 1939 before being posted. Believe they lived in Clarence Street, North Strand in 1950.
Not a lot to go on I admit, but it's a lot more than I had 4 day's ago when I started in earnest researching.
Anyway, any help would be greatly appreciated.
