Sussex / Ore cemetery (Winchelsea Road)
« on: Friday 11 November 05 15:12 GMT (UK)  »
Does anyone know if there are any transcripts or if there are still stones standing in this cemetery?

I'm looking for my great-grandfather who's pretty elusive !  ::)

Alphonso (Alphonse Joseph) DELONNETTE died in 1908 (death registered in January quarter 1908 - district Hastings volume 2b page 8 - on Free BMD) and was buried in Ore cemetery (Winchelsea Road) on February 7th 1908 (Ore burials parish 435/1/5/5 (kindly provided by someone online) -  His age was recorded as 72 and his abode 45 Victoria Avenue, Ore. )

Just wondering if there would be anything else on his headstone ;)

Sussex / hello and goodbye again (for now) !!!
« on: Tuesday 26 July 05 16:18 BST (UK)  »
Just a quick note so say that I've finally grabbed the chance to get online and do some family history this afternoon (I had a baby back in February so things got put on the shelf several months!) so I've left a few replies for people on old messages. But I'll be away on holiday and away from the computer for the whole of August so if anyone leaves me a message and I don't reply, I will get back to you in September, I promise!!!  :D

I must admit, I'm confused, I thought Chris had gone (or did I dream that?!  :o ).... but he's back - even if he's not here right now! Anyway, it's great to see he's still here ... I'll be back, armed with lookup requests, after the summer!  ;)

*Hugs* all round, even if nobody probably remembers me !!!  ::)

« on: Tuesday 26 October 04 10:44 BST (UK)  »
Could someone please  look up ALBERT JAMES PAGE, who also went by the name of JAMES PAGE, born circa 1867 in Hastings. He'd still be single and would probaby be a general labourer/navvy.

Here he is on the 1881 census with his parents and sister :
Dwelling: No 25 Brewery Cottages, Roebuck Yard (Census Place – Hastings St Clement Sussex)
ALBERT J PAGE, head, M, male, 40, born Ore Hastings, Sussex, Genl labourer
HARRIET PAGE, wife, M, female, 37, born Westm, Middlesex
JAMES PAGE, son, U, male, 15, born Ore Hastings Sussex, Genl labourer
MINNIE M PAGE, dau, female, 11, born Ore Hastings Sussex, Scholar

He was no longer living with his parents in the 1891 census (they'd moved to Athelstan Road, Hastings) and he didn't get married until June quarter 1895 in Hastings (to EMILY GEORGINA ALLEN).

Thanks very much in advance,
Cheryl
