The Common Room / BARTLETT/WILLS - marriage certificate difficulties
« on: Sunday 20 September 09 13:36 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

Have spent months trying to find the marriage of my Gt. Grandparents Caroline Bartlett and John Wills.   Perhaps someone out there can help!

John Wills was born in Yeovil abt. 1855 but was living in Leigh, Dorset in 1881.  Caroline was born in Batcombe, Dorset around 1863/5.   There are no parish baptismal records for Batcombe for the years 1864 & 1865 (just my luck!) and no marriage records for Leigh, Dorset where her family were living in 1881.   John and Caroline's first child, Frederick, was born abt. 1886 and is shown as being born in Leigh (1891 Census) and sometimes in Yeovil (1881 Census)!!!

Would appreciate some help.   Any ideas?

Have been looking for the marriage of my Gt. Grandfather John WILLS to Caroline BARTLETT for many months now.   I think they would have married about 1885/86 in Dorset, possibly Evershot(?).    Their first child was Fred (Frederick) born 1886 in Leigh,Dorset and followed by James in 1888 born in Yeovil.  Would appreciate any help.   Have some birth certs. for John Wills not of use to me but perhaps of use to others.

OnLine Parish Clerk of Dorset is an excellent site for those with interests in that County.

Thanks.

Searching for marriage of my Gt. Grandfather John WILLS (b. 1855 Yeovil) to Caroline BARTLETT (b. 1861 Evershot, Dorset) about 1884 - 1887?  The had 10 children, Fred, James, Percy, Walter, Albert, May, Norah, Violet, Sydney and Elizabeth (Wyn).  They moved to the Isle of Wight between 1888 and 1890.   Caroline's father was a baker in Evershot(?).
