The Stay Safe Board / New government guidelines?
« on: Monday 11 May 20 11:12 BST (UK)  »
The updated guidance from the government no longer seems to mention over 70s and self isolation

https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus

I may be wrong, can anyone else find a mention.

The especially vulnerable, ( had a letter) are still advised to take special precautions but it is emphasised that this is a personal choice.

Am I seeing it wrongly.

« on: Sunday 03 May 20 14:03 BST (UK)  »
It’s to be trialled on the Isle of Wight and everybody is to be encouraged to download it.

Please will someone tell our gov. that not everyone has, or can afford, or can use the necessary smartphone and associated unlimited access contract.

Herefordshire / It's amazing what you find
« on: Sunday 14 May 17 14:44 BST (UK)  »
http://www.bosburyhistoryresource.org.uk/

I found this by accident,  if you have 10 mins to spare you might find it interesting

Parish records, list of incumbents including one where the bishop appointed his son as vicar,
Memorial inscriptions, wills, legal documents, even a list of marriages of residents in adjoining parishes,
The detail is astonishing, I found it fascinating even though it has no relevance to my family hitory

Cheshire Lookup Requests / lostock gralham 1871
« on: Friday 31 January 14 21:53 GMT (UK)  »
Jessie Louisa Morgan married Charles Henry Turner in Chorlton Manchester in1878, there is a christening in Mcr cathedral in dec 1855 for her, but I cannot find a birth registration.

Familysearch tells me there is a jessey L morgan in lostock g. in 1871 with parents and siblings,
more info about this family would help me find her parents marriage.

familysearch has him aged 64, living with his brother in Keighley in 1891, It would help me find his birth if I knew his bro's name and birthplace.

The Common Room / Confirmation (as in church)
« on: Tuesday 06 November 12 13:30 GMT (UK)  »
Does anyone know if records of this exist anywhere, usually carried out in a group by the bishop it is mentioned in the Rev Francis Kilvert's diaries of 1875,so is not a recent practice.
rootschat lexicon puts it under adult baptism but it gets very little mention.

could such records be usefull, if they exist.
