Wexford / Kavanagh's Wexford pre 1850s
« on: Sunday 13 July 14 17:01 BST (UK)  »
Hi All :)

Been a while but having just had my cousin over from Ireland for a visit has stirred me into dusting off the family tree “To Do” list:

Details I have: My Gfather Laurence (1894), his father, my GGfather, Edward (1853) (Also a brother Mathew 1850) then their father, my GGGfather, John Kavanagh (c1830) and that’s where it stops  :(

I have no details about John (no DoB, no Death no nothing) other than he is listed on Edwards marriage cert to Mary Mahon in 1885 as a labourer.

Also I have no details regarding his wife, my GGGmother, or his parents my GGGG parents ???

The family are from Our Lady's Island Co Wexford.

Many thanks in advance for all your help :D

Gerry

United States of America / Sarah Kavanagh in the USA
« on: Thursday 24 February 11 15:55 GMT (UK)  »
Hi All,  :)
Just returned from a short stay with rellies in Ireland and I was given a copy of the 1901 census for Edward Kavanagh Co Wexford, my great grandad. Edward's son Lawrence is my Grandad, aged 7 on census dob 1894 and his sister (my great aunt) is Sarah Kavanagh aged 10 on the census, so dob c1891.

Family talk of Sarah going to the USA possibly ending up in California but not sure. ???

I know it's not much to go on but you lovely people out there in Rootschat land have always come good for me in the past so here's hoping that you can help trace Sarah from Ireland to the USA and beyond please.

Many Thanks and appreciation in advance
Gerry Collison :D

US Lookup Requests / Collison's in the USA
« on: Sunday 02 November 08 16:15 GMT (UK)  »
Hi Betty :), Bearkat 8) & everyone ;D

Following my earlier post I have another question please. Two of my ancestors left for the USA how can I find where and when they left.

Information I have: (i) William Collison (1842) and Rachel Watts (1843) born UK, not sure where they married or when.
Children: Nellie 1869, Edith 1871, Amy 1874, William 1878 & Esther 1880 Born Michigan USA

Information I have: (ii) Sarah Collison (1843) and George Butcher (1842) born UK, not sure where they married or when.
Children: Ida 1870, Charlotte 1870, Charlotte 1879 born Michigan USA, Charles 1879 Headcorn Kent.

The last two seem strange as one's in the USA and one in the UK but both in the same year 1879 did something happen and they came home with a new born at the start of the year and had another one at the end of the year?

Sorry to bother you but I find it helpfull to put down my thoughts and see if you can shed some light on them.

Thanks
Gerry :-\
