I have been contacted by a distant cousin whose father was a British serviceman.
He has no knowledge of who his father was and, due to DNA, discovered the paternity issue.
He was born in 1945 and the conception was made during the non-fraternisation period.
How do we find what regiments/forces were in the Carinthia region during that time.
The mother (Austrian)was a nurse in a lost persons/refugee camp. The camps were run by thhe British.
Can anyone help us/give advice please.

World War Two / Army medical grades WW2
« on: Tuesday 14 October 14 17:49 BST (UK)  »
My father was discharged from the Army in 1930. In January 1940 he went back in as a Territorial. His medical grade was B6. I was sure that his grading meant that he was only fit for sedentary duties!
He went into the R.A.S.C. and was posted to France in early 1940. He record states he was a driver and donor/despatch rider. He was at Dunkirk and  eventually got back to Great Britain.
I know that during his first period in the Army he was.a First Class rifle & pistol shot. I also know that he could drive both a motorbike and a lorry before he went back into the Army.
What I wanted to know is : Was he posted to France or did he volunteer?
Can anyone give me a clue, please?

Yorkshire (West Riding) / Wilson family Leeds 1795ish!
« on: Monday 07 October 13 19:29 BST (UK)  »
Hello again,

I am, once again, asking for help regarding my Wilson family.
I have already been down two false trails but, hopefully, I am now on the right trail!!
I have got my Wilson family back to John Wilson who married Hannah Hollinger at Leeds Parish Church on 12 February 1819. John is a Paper Stainer.

I thought John might have been born 1795ish. The problem I have is that there are quite a number of John Wilson's born around that period but, which one is mine?

Is there anyone who can help? Please

Sorry for such oblique information but that is all I have been provided with.

Is there anyone who can help me

Can anyone help?

I am looking for the baptism of James Nobles born c1800 in the Huddersfield/Kirkburton area.

James married my gggrandmother Sarah Hill on 29/11/1821. Sarah was a single parent with one child David, my ggrandfather.

I am trying to assist someone who trying to find details of James.

I know James married Sarah at All Hallows, Kirkburton and both were 'of this parish', but there is no baptism at All Hallows for James.

I think James could have been born in Farnley Tyas, Almondbury or one of the other nearby parish's.
