Please can someone help. I have a marriage certificate for James Matterson and Sarah Miller. they were married at the Parish Church in the Parish of Gosforth. Father of groom Richard matterson from Fleming Hall and Father of Bride Thomas Miller. Would the Parish Record have the mothers Name on it as I am trying to trace the mother of sarah Miller. Marriage was in November 1867. Hope someone can put me in the right direction. Thank you in advance.

World War Two / any ideas how to find???
« on: Thursday 17 January 08 20:46 GMT (UK)  »
I have in my possession four original coloured portraits done in Italy 1944 by a F Scarings. these appear to be of three individual armed forces men. I know that they are these as they belonged to my father in law and before he died he told me that they were men in his regiment when he was stationed in Italy during World War 11 and they were given them by the artist . unfortunately I cannot remember who he said they were of.I have tried 1901 census for the surname Scaring and there is nobody with that name, looked on CWGC and no name of any casualty. the only Scaring family I found was on Ancestry in immigration going to America, and i don't have a world wide subscription to view it.
My romantic notion would be to find out who these men were and give them to their descendants. They are in excellent condition and kept in a metal tube. so if anyone has any ideas of where to go next, please let me know, as it is a shame that they are not being viewed.

Cumberland Lookup Requests / look up please for Mary Ann Arnot and Jacob Daglish
« on: Wednesday 07 December 05 19:46 GMT (UK)  »
Would someone please be able to do a look up for me please in Parish register for a Mary Ann Arnot (Arnott). Born around 1838 in either Lower Heskett (from 1851 census) or Heskett in the Forest as shown in 1871,1881 census.)
Her father was George Bainbridge. I need to know who her mother was. Her marriage certificate says that she was a Spinster. I would appreciate it very much if someone was able to help me, as I live in the midlands area. Also I am looking for the death of Jacob Daglish (Dagleish). He was born about 1884. My aunt said he died aged 40.I have searched 1837 online from 1924 to 1947 but no Jacob Daglish of the right age. On my Grandmothers marriage cert in 1934 it said he was still alive!!
Many thanks
Teresa
