Warwickshire Lookup Requests / Why can't I find the MARSDENs in 1901?
« on: Friday 18 June 10 19:35 BST (UK)  »
Hi all !

Can anybody tell me where these people are hiding in 1901?  :P
(I have BMDs and other censuses)

John Daniel Marsd(e/o)n born ca. 1877 Birmingham - a chain maker, probably
Sarah Elizabeth (nee Tallis) born ca. 1876 Birmingham
Violet born April 1898 Birmingham
Eva born Aug 1899 Birmingham
Clara born Feb 1901 Birmingham
(+ possibly John's mum Clara Marsden, born ca. 1851 Ludlow Shropshire, whom I can't find either)

I don't have little Clara's birth cert to check the exact address but she was christened at All Saints Hockley Birmingham on 17th March 1901, so surely they shouldn't be far away ???

Widowed John and the children are still in Birmingham in 1911, Sarah dies 1906 Birmingham.

John is granddad's 2nd cousin once removed ...  not a big deal if he remains unfound but I'd be grateful if anybody wants to give it a go  :D

Hi all  :)

Does someone have access to St John Kates Hill marriage records by any chance?

I'd be very interested in the details of:

1849 Anne Priest - John Brettelle
Dudley, St John The Evangelist, Kates Hill

(not sure of exact date but Sep quarter according to FreeBMD)

Later census records for those 2 make me think that Anne is the sister of my gggdad Peter Priest, hence I'd like to confirm that her dad was George, probably a miner.

I'm really struggling with Peter's sisters (doesn't help that their surname is Price on one day and Priest on the next! :P) - she's my only lead actually!

Grateful for any help :)

Hi all  :)

If anybody has access to Tipton St Matthew marriages, I'd very much like the details of

Daniel Corns - Hannah Jane Jones
between July and Sep 1889

I've got the GRO reference, just trying to save money as usual  ::)

It's Hannah Jane Jones I'm after. The 1891 and 1901 censuses for Hannah J Corns say she was born ca. 1869 West Bromwich but I'm not happy to believe her - I want to marry off my gt auntie Hannah Jane Jones born Dudley 1864 :P

Thanks for any help  :)

Cheshire Lookup Requests / Ashton under Lyne 1839 PRs anyone?
« on: Thursday 24 September 09 19:15 BST (UK)  »
Hi all  :)

Thought I'd find Ashton under Lyne stuff at the LDS pilot site but I'm having no luck  :(

I'm looking for 2 records:

- christening of Rach(a)el TAF(F)T in 1839. I know there are 2. One the daughter of a Philip Taft and his wife Elizabeth. I'm interested in the other one, hoping that her parents are John and Kezia.

- burial of a Kezia TAF(F)T in Ashton (death registered in Dec quarter). Cheshire BMD says she was 26 and I'm hoping it will say that she's the wife of John

I have the GRO & Cheshire BMD references - just trying to save money if anybody can help  :)

Hi all  :)

I'm trying to solve a little mystery without spending my money ...

Could someone help me with the details of a St Thomas Dudley marriage please?

The IGI shows a marriage
William Taft - Mary Dovey
12 July 1846 St Thomas Dudley

and I'd be very interested in his father's details and the witnesses' names

According to later censuses William was born 1825ish at Cleobury Mortimer and everything leads me to believe that he was the son of Thomas Taf(f/t) born Cleobury 1807 and his wife Ann: a girl I believe to be William's daughter is staying with Thomas and Ann as granddaughter in 1851 and 1861, but I have nothing else to go on. Can't find William's christening nor his dad's marriage to an Ann, and they aren't together on any census either.

Thank you  :)

Hi all  :)

This a vague one  :P

I'm looking for the burial of (my 5th great grandmother) Martha MACH(E/I)N, hopefully in Cleobury Mortimer (her children were born and married in Cleobury/Hopton Wafers)

She and her husband Peter Mach(e/i)n had children between 1774 and 1784 in Cleobury. After that, I lose sight of them.

I'm hoping that her burial shows her age at death (her maiden name was Matthews <insert big sigh> and I'm trying to ascertain, given that she married Peter in Withington, whether she's likely to be the Martha Mathews christened on 23 Sep 1744 at Withington to parents Thomas and Rachel. She does name 2 of her children Thomas and Rachel ...)

Grateful for any help  :D

Hi all  :)

(Just a dating question - no restoration needed)

I've been sent this picture and I'm told that the little lady sitting on the left is my ggrandma (1874-1945). Unfortunately I've no idea who the happy couple are, and I'm rubbish at guessing people's ages. Would this be 30s? 40s?

Grateful for any help  :)
