Trying to trace Ann Amelia after 1871. She married Herbert Williams in 1863 who later went under his professional stage name of Charles de Vere. Ann Amelia was an actress who later took the stage name of Millie De Vere. I have them both together in 1871 at Kelly Street St Pancras- but Charles toured abroad a lot without Millie and I would like to find out more about her. I can see that there are various references to an actress/performer Millie DeVere in the archived newaspapers but would love to know what happened to her!
Any help appreciated. Thank you,

Europe / Marriage in Belgium 1877-1888- where do I start please!
« on: Monday 10 July 23 11:26 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to trace a possible marriage during this time frame and I would be most grateful for any help or advice. The bride and groom were both English but were travelling stage performers and therefore went under their stage names as well as their given names. Any advice would be most welcome. Thank you.

Staffordshire Lookup Requests / Clive Street Tunstall- a long shot!
« on: Friday 23 June 23 16:30 BST (UK)  »
I have vivid memories of visiting my great aunt who lived at 3 Clive Street Tunstall nearly all her life- she died in 1974. I was aged around 8 in 1963 and I remember her taking me to a pottery works near the end of her road and showing me where she worked, painting the gold rims onto white crockery. I have recently visited Clive Street and whilst all the terraced houses are still in situ, it seems that numbers 1,3 and 5 have been cleared and left as open space. I would love to know why those 3 houses were demolished as the remaining terraces look exactly the same as I remember number 3- and secondly, is there any way at all of knowing which pottery works would have been in close proximity?

Visited the family graves in Tunstall cemetery today and am really trying to complete my research to utilise what I can remember!
I have today also ordered a copy of the book Tunstall Through Time by Mervyn Edwards as i am sure that will be very useful but would appreciate any comments or guidance on my 2 questions.
Thank you

I amtrying to establish this location in 1929 where my grandfather lived with his parents. I can see that Upper Mount Street is now Hawes street- any idea how the house numbering would work now?
I cannot trace Grosvenor Crescent either although I can see that there is now Grosvenor Place now at the end of Bank street running from Hawes Street.

Would really like to establish the location of 28 Grosvenor Crescent Upper Mount Street as it is today if possible. Many of the family lay in Tunstall cemetery nearby.

Any help much appreciated

Northamptonshire Lookup Requests / Hall House Pytchley 1822
« on: Tuesday 02 August 22 13:08 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to find out any information about Hall House Pytchley in the 1820s. I am researching William Raggett and have found reference to him in Northamptonshire Archives and Heritage:
Northamptonshire County Council Archives and Heritage
•
•   Scrapbook of William Horner of Broughton consisting of newspapers mostly of 1834

177-188 Notice of auction under a distress for rent of the furniture of Samuel Eaton at Broughton in October 1831; notice of the reprint of the Northampton Mercury containing a report of the proceedings at the nomination of two members of the Southern Division of the county (December 1832), notice of auction of livestock at the Hall House, Pytchley, occupied by William Raggett in July 1822, poster advertising auction of furniture (listed with lot numbers) at the Green Dragon, Broughton, by P. Warren in July 1834,

Any information re Hall House or william raggett mentioned in 1822 would be wonderful.
Thank you.
I have william raggett in the Pytchley area around that time, married to Anne and with 5 children at least, baptised in Pytchley between 1816 and 1823 but it is his involvement and location with Hall House which is of interest.
Thank you

Can anyone help me solve a riddle!

George faulkner married elizabeth Galleymore in Manchester on 8th June 1840 Manchester.
george was born in Lancashire and Elizabeth was born in Cheshire- but she sems to have married away from her imediate family who stayed in Cheshire for the duration of their lives!
Curiously in the 1841 census- George and Elizabeth are now married and living back in Cheshire with son john aged 0 and stated as born in Scotland.
This is the only time that George and Elizabeth show their son John as born in Scotland, close to the time of their marriage.
In later censuses John is always shown as being born in Mere Cheshire- the same as his mother Elizabeth.
I am beginning to wonder if George and Elizabeth eloped to Scotland before returning to England to raise the family- any clues or ideas? Or did they marry in Scotland before the birth of John and then married again in Manchester 1840 to 'make the marriage legal'?
Any ideas please! On the marriage cert for June 1840 they both declare their place of residence to simply be Manchester.
Any ideas most welcome!

Looking for George (born Eccles Lancs 1820) and his wife Elizabeth (born Cheshire nee Galleymore| in 1871- I have them in 1861 and in 1881 but cannot find them or any of their children in 1871!
In 1861 they are living at Under Lane, Ashton Under Lyne and George is a farmer of 26 acres. I have them again in 1881- still with a few of the unmarried children still at home- at Old Road failsworth- and now George is still a farmer but only 5 acres. Seems to me that George was probably a tennant farmer and moved around a bit.
I have tried to trace the children but have drawn a blank except for their daughter Frances who is with her Aunt in Knutsford.
Any help very welcome!
