Canada / English man on 1881 Ontario census
« on: Saturday 03 April 21 16:06 BST (UK)  »
I wonder if anyone could find any other information about this family please.

Specifically interested in George as I lose a George from England after the 1851 census when he was 16.  Age isn't quite right but no stone unturned as have been looking for a very long time.

I don't know where or when this couple married.  The father of mine was James and mother Sarah.

George Hinchliffe 50 boss weaver born England
Agnefs 45 born Scotland
John 18 born Ontario
George 16 born Ontario
William 12 born Ontario
Robert 6 born Ontario

Many thanks for any information even if only to rule him out.

Yorkshire (West Riding) / Kirkburton marriage bans 1811
« on: Friday 26 February 21 16:07 GMT (UK)  »
Grateful for opinions on this please.

I've been looking to progress backwards from ggg grandparents Sarah Wood and James Hinchliffe who married in Kirkburton 4 Nov 1816 and have found banns were 13 October 1811

Should there have been another lot closer to the marriage presuming this is the same couple?

I don't have a birth place for James as he died pre 1851 and whilst Sarah did marry again no fathers name was listed.

Thanks for looking.

The Stay Safe Board / Bubble up ruling
« on: Friday 19 June 20 11:47 BST (UK)  »
Little confused over this.  First announcement I was thrilled to think it meant I could bubble up with my father who lives alone but have been told by friends it doesn't include elderly people living alone as they are supposed to be shielding.

I am not clear whether shielding purely relates to people with certain medical conditions that have been written to or if it also includes people over 70.

I have been sent the nhs bubble guidelines but it does not specify anything about elderly people.

Grateful for any comments thank you.

1861 - birthplaces as transcribed

George Hinchliffe 26 Onlery Yorks
Eliza wife 25 High Buston Yorks
William Henry son 4 Brightston Yorks
J Thomas son 2 Burnby Lancs

I am having trouble with pinning down births for the children or finding the right marriage for the parents and the birth places are throwing me off somewhat.

Any help much appreciated.  I am trying to find a George who goes awol after 1851 and would like to rule this one out if I can.

The Stay Safe Board / Click and collect shopping question
« on: Wednesday 01 April 20 12:26 BST (UK)  »
I'm ok with the clicking part but not the collecting.

Tried it for the first time last week, found the collection area ok and joined a queue of cars.
2 cars at a time were backing into parking spots and their shopping was brought out.

Backed in when my turn in the queue came and showed my order confirmation but got finger wagged at me and told it "wasn't my turn" so had to drive to the back of the queue again  ???

My question is how do they know whose turn it is?

I do appreciate the system may be working differently to "normal"

If I get the chance to use the service again at the moment I would but helpful info on how not to inadvertently jump the queue would be much appreciated.
