Australia / Campbelltown NSW burial
« on: Saturday 03 October 09 08:23 BST (UK)  »
I have just received a death transcription for William Henry Rust, buried 11 Nov 1975 St Peters church cemetery Campbelltown NSW.

Is there any way of finding out if his widow, Sarah Josephine, was buried there as it will be quite a few years before her death will appear on NSW released records?

They were living in Toggerai Street, Appin, NSW.

All pointers greatly appreciated.

London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / Victor Langbein 1891 census?
« on: Friday 25 September 09 15:56 BST (UK)  »
Victor Radcliffe Langbein married Frances New in 1902. I have found them in 1911 at Southville Road, Wandsworth.

In trying to trace Victor's past I have found him in 1901 (age 29) with his mother Maria (55) and brother Oscar (32) at 77 Studley Road, Lambeth. Both 1911 & 1901 show his birthplace as South Lambeth.

Can anyone see them on 1891 or 1881 census as I have tried variations on FindMyPast but they do not seem to be listed?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Australia Lookups completed / Sally RUST - NSW?
« on: Thursday 10 September 09 09:27 BST (UK)  »
What ever happened to Sarah (Sally) Josephine Rust?

Sally (born in London in 1905), and husband William Henry Rust (two years younger), married in London in 1934. They left Henley on Thames in 1968 and emigrated to Australia.
It is believed that they arrived in Melbourne aboard the Oriana and were heading for Campbell Town (?) NSW.

Any suggestions, pointers, etc., will by very much appreciated.

We are unable to find the following on FindMyPast 1881 census and would appreciate any assistance.

Emile Albert Planson married Sarah Ann Pitcher in 1876.

We have the family in 1891 (RG12 piece448 folio127 page41)
but where were they, with children
Louisa Mary Ann (1876 Barnes), William Albert (1878 Fulham) and Charles William (1880 Fulham), in 1881?

Thanking you for your help.

Lincolnshire Lookup Requests / John Drury
« on: Saturday 29 August 09 18:57 BST (UK)  »
Wesleyan minister John Drury (of South Scarle, Notts) married Rebecca Cummins at the Wesleyan Chapel in Lincoln 29 May 1869.

In 1871 they were living at Newton Street, Lincoln with their 8 month old daughter.

In 1881  John (40) & Rebecca (33), with children Mary (10), Robert (7), John (6), Annie (4) and Sarah were at 12 Gray Street, Lincoln.

I have been unable to find the family anywhere on any later census, despite entering spelling variations. They just seem to have vanished.
Any suggestions?

Lincolnshire Lookup Requests / Charles Mumby of Binbrook
« on: Monday 17 August 09 07:56 BST (UK)  »
In 1911 Charles Mumby was living with his wife (Fanny Comins) and their 6 children at 18 Williamson Street, Lincoln. His age is shown as 40, birthplace Binbrooke.

In 1901 they were living at 2 Philips Row, Newport, Lincoln (RG13 piece 3063 folio 161 page 27) where Charles is recorded as 26 from Binbrook.

We have been unable to find his birth registration, nor the appearance of a Charles with a Binbrook birthplace on earlier census records.

Before ordering his m cert (Q3 1898 Lincoln 7a 1087) could sks offer any suggestions as to how to trace him in the earlier censuses.

Thanking you in advance.

« on: Monday 10 August 09 10:27 BST (UK)  »
On FindMyPast 1881 census transcription RG11 piece 3239 folio 53 page 9, 48 Gaunt Street, Lincoln, the birthplace of all the children of Henry and Priscilla Mitchell (Louisa, Amelia and George) is shown as Lincoln, Middlesex.

Could sks with access to the originals confirm this as we are not aware of a Lincoln in Middlesex.

Thanking you in advance

Bedfordshire / Hitchin
« on: Sunday 26 July 09 06:46 BST (UK)  »
Listed in the heading for Bedfordshire is the town of Hitchin.
Does anyone know when Hitchin became a market town in the county of Bedfordshire as we were always led to believe that it was in Hertfordshire?
