Please accept my apologies for not responding to messages, I'm afraid work has taken over. If anyone is waiting for a reply, information or photograph then please let me know by PM. I'm on holiday from work next week, so hopefully I can catch up on your queries. I know some may have been waiting a long long time but if you give me a reminder then I will try my best to get back to you.
Thanks for your patience
Jean

Kincardineshire / Benholm McBey/McBay
« on: Tuesday 01 July 14 10:36 BST (UK)  »
This is a sad post :(
It seems that one of our grave stones has been stolen!
If anyone has a photo of the stone I am about to describe then please send me a copy, so I can report the theft to the authorities.
The stone a 6ft high polished marble stood to the left of the Kirk as you enter the gates. It was dedicated to the family of Edward Mcbey (Lang Ned) who was the cox of Johnshaven life boat. it listed his family, the last entry being his youngest son Alfred who's surname was spelt McBay, who died in the first world war.
It was last seen approx. 12/13 years ago.

Here's hoping

Kincardineshire / EDWIN S NOBLE
« on: Wednesday 29 January 14 15:37 GMT (UK)  »
The war memorial in Johnshaven has an inscription on it for EDWIN S NOBLE - could any one out there provide any information on this person? A work is being compiled on all the names on the memorial but this chap seems to be illusive! Does anyone has access to military records for a possible match ?

Thanks
Jean

Yorkshire (West Riding) Lookup Requests / Doncaster Archives Look Up
« on: Monday 21 March 11 15:44 GMT (UK)  »
Hi there!

Is anyone planning a visit to Doncaster Archives? If so please could I ask a huge favour.

I am looking for the marriage of Charles Lee and Ann Schofield. My great grandfather William (their 1st child) was born in Swinton in 1846.

There is nothing on the IGI and I have searched free bmd with no luck either.

I have contacted Doncaster Archives and they tell me that Swinton church was not licensed for marriages until 1849, so they probably married at another church nearby such as Wath on Dearne. Charles' family came from Adwick on Dearne so they could have gone there to marry.

Ann was born in 1825/26 so I reckon the earliest they could have married would be 1840 when she would have been 15.

I have no idea how many records there are and how long this search would take, but I would really appreciate some help.

Thanks so much
Jean :)
