Australia / Tony Stramrood
« on: Sunday 03 March 24 06:29 GMT (UK)  »
I am trying to find information on the above gentleman, who at one time was married to my Great aunt, Eunice Harrington Green.  Eunice was born and grew up in Sth. Australia.  She certainly died under that surname in Sydney in 1996.  I have found a shipping record for her travelling to Capetown, South Africa on 25 Oct. 1951.  She appears to have been travelling on her own.  She then would have been aged 57.  I have nothing on her husband Tony (presumably Anthony) other than his name.  No birth, marriage or death.  Going by his surname, he was possibly from South Africa, perhaps with European ancestors.
At the time of going to South Africa, Eunice's address was shown as living in the UK.
Any help on solving this mystery, would be very much appreciated.

Australia / Le Roy de Guerin marriage/s
« on: Thursday 21 September 23 03:39 BST (UK)  »
For some time I have been trying to find information as to who Le Roy Taunton de Guerin married.  In S.A. Genealogy it appears he married Ruth Ethel Tomlinson on 26 October, 1926 in St. John's Church, Adelaide.  He had two daughters, now both deceased.
However, his headstone reads that he "died in Myrtle Bank (Adelaide, S.A.) on 10 September, 1946 aged 60 years. Loved husband of Elizabeth and father of Ruth and Joan".
The only account of Leroy on SA Genealogy is his marriage in October 1926.  He was apparently born in Adelaide on 1 April, 1886 but no birth is shown.  His parents were Harry Robin and Alice Mary.
So, my question is, did Leroy marry twice?  Or was his wife Ruth Ethel or Elizabeth Mary (both surnames being Tomlinson).
There is a death on SA Gen. for an "Elizabeth Ruth" who died 20 Feb. 1971 aged 70.  The relative who apparently gave the information, was Leroy Taunton de Guerin (DH). District was Port Adelaide.
I would be very grateful if someone could figure all this out for me please, as I am completely baffled!
I have also seen his name shown as "Guerin" without the "de".

Australia / Robert (Richard) Riches
« on: Friday 30 June 23 01:59 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to find information on Robert (Richard) Riches for a friend whose husband's family believe they were related to him via marriage.  He was an artist and spent time in the Mosman, Sirius Cove area painting scenes of the water.  I believe he was born c.1860 but that could have been in England.  I did find a birth at Downham in the second quarter of 1860. There is one Downham in Lancashire and another at Lewisham near London.  There is one birth in NSW in 1870 (10 years later).
Possible marriages in NSW were between 1980 - 1902 for either a 'Robert' or 'Richard'.
Possible deaths in NSW were between 1901 - 1952 for either a 'Robert' or 'Richard'.
I haven't been able to find much on the internet about him other than he was apparently an Australian Physician and Amateur painter based in Mosman.
Any help would be appreciated.

Milton F DRAKE b. c.1936, d. c.1989 m. Hazel E FORD b. c.1935, d. 2004.  I have been unable to find a birth or marriage for them in NSW or Victoria.  They had several children, one  being Cheryl Anne Drake, b. 1949 (possibly NSW) and d. 2016, possibly NSW.
Milton's father was Lesley DRAKE b. c. 1900 and he married a lady named 'Marg'.  Don't know if that is short for Margaret/Marjorie etc.
Lesley d. c.1985 and Marg c. 1990.
Any information on Milton and Hazel and their daughter Cheryl, would be appreciated.

Australia / Joseph BROWN married Emma PRESSICK
« on: Friday 21 April 23 06:30 BST (UK)  »
I have been doing some research for a friend on the above family.  I believe that Joseph was born c. 1787, Loftus, Yorkshire and died c. 1850 same place. I think I have found his father, Robert BROWN, b. c.1750 with Joseph's mother being Mary COOKE, b. c.1756.
Joseph and Emma had 4 children to my knowledge - Pressick c.1842, Emma c.1844, William c.1845 and Charles c. 1846.  All born in Loftus/Lofthouse, Yorkshire.  No deaths for Joseph and Emma or any of those children.
Any information on this family would be very much appreciated.

Scotland / Robertson - Urie marriage
« on: Wednesday 01 March 23 23:56 GMT (UK)  »
I am trying to go back further for records of the above couple.
David Robertson (b. 1835, Lanark, Scotland) married Agnes Urie (b. 1838, Lanark)

I have two children of the marriage (but feel there would certainly be more).  Janet was my G. Grandmother and I have her marriage and children.  I have also found marriage of David to Jane Crawford Morrison and their two children, David Urie and John Robertson.

Any information on David and Agnes (i.e. their parents, deaths etc.) would be very much appreciated and also if there are more than the two children noted above.

Thank you,

Australia / Edna Dianne Cousins/Ayliffe and Elsie Cousins
« on: Sunday 23 October 22 07:43 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to find info on Edna Cousins whom I think was born in Yorkshire about 1915 and migrated with her mother Mrs Elizabeth Cousins and siblings Elsie, Elizabeth and William Henry Jnr.  They were not accompanied by a husband/father.  I found them on the Outward Bound Passenger List March 1925.
I am particularly interested in both Edna and her sister Elsie.  They lived in South Australia, around the Port Pirie area.  I think Edna married Leo Ayliffe c. 1937 and she was possibly killed in a vehicle accident near Pt. Pirie in 1967. I don't lnow if they had family.
Elsie possibly married William Alfred Martin in 1928, also in Pt. Pirie.
Any information on this family would be very much appreciated.

Any information would be much appreciated.

Australia / Help with DNA
« on: Thursday 15 September 22 07:18 BST (UK)  »
I did a DNA test through Ancestry aa couple of years ago and I have a match with a (now deceased) relative who also did his DNA.  His daughter, with whom I have had a lot of contact as she is managing his Tree, is very keen to discover the identity of her Grandfather.

Her father was born in Adelaide but the person we think is the most likely one to be her Grandfather, was born in the mid north of South Australia, as were two of his known children.  All are now deceased.

The biological mother of this gentleman was also from the same area, although she gave birth at a Mother and Babies home in Adelaide.
The gentleman in question is shown as a 2/3rd cousin to me with 121cms and 2% shared DNA.

Another relative who is an even closer match to myself - 358cms and 5% shared DNA, also is a mystery.  It would be great if we can find the connection there too.  This relative also lives in Adelaide. My father's family were all born in South Australia as opposed to my mother's side, who were born in NSW.

Is there anyone I could contact who could point me in the right direction to hopefully confirm the identities of both these connections?

I only know of one living person who could do a DNA in the first case, but a niece of hers has suggested that perhaps that she should not do a test.  This person is the granddaughter of the most likely biological father, so it is disappointing that she has suddenly had a change of heart.

Myself and the above people are all connected through DNA, which makes it fairly clear that we are connected through my father's side.
