Occupation Interests / Methodist missionaries to South Africa
« on: Friday 16 January 09 19:33 GMT (UK)  »
Hi
Does anyone have any contacts or links or could you point me in the right direction to a database please - searching for a Methodist missionary ancestor early 1800's.  If there's a link somewhere or a website I've missed would be very grateful if you could point me in the right direction.

Thanks a bunch

 :o :)

Hi All

I'm trying to find more info on my ggggranfather James Scott b 1803 Carnmoney and my ggggrandmother Mary O'Brien, Carnmoney, Antrim married 1829, Carnmoney, Antrim. Trying to reach back a bit further than 1803 to research their parents and find siblings.  Seem to have hit a blank.
Is anyone else researching the Scotts or O'Briens in this area or could you possibly point me to a resource which you've found helpful?  Would appreciate any and all advice!

Thanks a bunch

England / *Sarah Dean* born c. 1845 can you help me please?
« on: Sunday 04 January 09 15:49 GMT (UK)  »
Hi  Everyone
Happy New Year!
I am attempting to find my g g g grandmother's family.  Went to South Africa as missionaries.  Sarah was born around 1845 and married George Smith Cooke - Cooke being his last name and Smith his second name.
Have tried passenger lists, free bmd, IGI, rootsweb, genforum, Genes Reunited, naairs (South Africa), Cape Records Office, missionary websites....
and cannot find her.  There are many Sarah Dean's born around the same time in England - listed on Family Search but don't know which one she could be and don't have a starting point or name of siblings even to point me in the right direction.

I am really hoping that perhaps someone else is looking for her too or that somebody could please point me in the right direction if I've been going about it the wrong way.

Thanks very much for your time.

Kind Regards
Blommie

Occupation Interests / Wesleyan Missionaries in South Africa
« on: Sunday 04 January 09 11:33 GMT (UK)  »
Hi
I'm trying to find my gg grandmother's family.  They were missionaries in South Africa, in Namaqualand.  Her name was Sarah Dean and she would have been born around 1845.  She married George Cooke in South Africa.
Her parents may have been Wesleyan missionaries.  Can't seem to find any info about them despite looking on various missionary sites.
There are just too many Sarah Deans in Britain (IGI) at the time - and don't have dates for when they went to SA.  Don't know who her parents were and by finding missionary info am hoping to unlock this information.

Could anyone please point me in the right direction?

Thank you
 :D
