Warwickshire / STEVENS of Grandborough
« on: Monday 29 November 10 07:39 GMT (UK)  »
Hello everyone, i have restarted researching my tree after great disappointment in 2009 when i discovered three close branches of my tree would never be know to me!

Onward and upward though.

I found royalty in my family but i won't believe it just yet!  So i need your super minds.

Dorcas Stevens (1610-1641) is meant to have married my relation Joesph Dancer (1610-1641)

Dorcas was born 18 Nov 1610  Quainton, Buckinghamshire, England

Joesph Dancer was born13 Nov 1610  Risborough, Buckinghamshire, , England

Dorcas Stevens is meant to be the daughter of Nicholas STEVENS B: 24 Apr 1563  Grandborough, Warwickshire, , England  D:1610  England.

This line of Stevens leads back into supposedly royalty but i can't find how people (other family trees on Ancestry.com.uk) have linked Dorcas and Joesph Dancer.

I bow down to your brains!!

Thankyou from the bottom of my heart
Jaymee

The Common Room / Kate Eade - continued
« on: Saturday 03 January 09 22:10 GMT (UK)  »
Hey everyone, sorry to start a new post but just wanting to see what you think of this.

So in researching another branch of my family tree, Ernest Albert Pizzey (Millie's husband).  If you remember Millie's mother is Kate Eade.

URL: http://i442.photobucket.com/albums/qq150/billycourty/treegraph.jpg

As you can see from the partial family tree above; Ernest Pizzey's mother and father are George and Ada Bennett, THEN Ada's parents are William and Mary Bennett (we dont have and are looking for Mary's maiden name). In the 1901 census we found something strange, William and Mary have a stepdaughter living with them called KATE EADE as you can see in the two pictures below.

Still with me? lol

Ok the real headspinner:  The daughter (Ada) and the stepdaughter (Kate) grow up and their own children (Millicent and Ernest Albert) get married.....

Or do they?

In the 1891 census we find Kate Eade with her parents (William and Ellen Eade), we dont find in the same census a stepdaughter Kqte Eqde with the Bennett family.

http://i442.photobucket.com/albums/qq150/billycourty/clearlistEade1891.jpg

And in the 1901 census we find a second Kate Eade who seems to be living with her mum and siblings.....

http://i442.photobucket.com/albums/qq150/billycourty/clearlistEade1901.jpg

Is this 2 Kate Eades? Ages slightly different, in 2 different locations on the same census...(how likely would this be?)

Or are these 2 families somehow interwoven.....

Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Super sleuths needed!!
« on: Wednesday 31 December 08 18:50 GMT (UK)  »

Sorry if this is a double post: I finished typing and it said i double posted but nothing was sent so i restart:

I really need some help reading this "Letter".  I am trying to trace a line of my family from my grandmother who is Illegitment.

This is the back half of a photo that was water damaged and split in two, on it is the angry writings of my grandmother explaining to my mother about the photo, which depicts my grandmother's mother in a nanny uniform with the three charges she looked after.

It is believed the father of these children is also my grandmother's father.

My Great grandmother was cruelly dismissed when it was discover she was pregnant but she would never tell even to her dying day who my grandmother's real father was.

Any help with deciphering this is greatly received as the hand that wrote it has been dead 20 years.

Sadly i could have read this letter when i was a child, i remember trying to understand it but the running writing was too hard.

If anyone needs a copy emailed just say.

Thankyou so much for your care and aid.

The Common Room / How to find maid service record?
« on: Wednesday 31 December 08 14:04 GMT (UK)  »
Hello everyone,

I am just new on the road to my family history and I am wonding if anyone knows how to find Maid service history?

My Grandmother was born out of wedlock to my Great grandmother who was a maid in a doctor's house.

My G grandmother refused to ever say who the father of her child was (my grandmother) but my aunt (daughter of the child) has always said that the family believed it was the doctor that my ggrandmother worked for.

I am going to try and find out the name of this doctor so that at least i have some last name but the only infomation is my ggreatmothers name

Kate Eave (her father is Horace Eave) so she kept her maiden name until she married and became a Morris.

The only infomation i have is the Name Kate Eave and the fact she entered service at 14 years old.

I don't have my grandmothers birth cert..to see how old kate was when my grandmother was born.

IS there some kind of central maid service that kept records of maids and where they worked or is this just personally kept by each household?

All i have of Kate is a Photo that was taken with the 3 children she was a nanny to.

She was a nanny.

sorry if this isn't very clear as i was typing i was realizing things i havent thought of like 1. i do know what her job is and 2. her age in the photo is about 18.

London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / PIZZEY
« on: Wednesday 31 December 08 13:27 GMT (UK)  »
Hello and a happy new year to all of you.

I Hope that its ok to post here as i am new to the site.

My Family name is Pizzey and it seems the family came from the Middlesex area.

My grandfathers name was Ernest George Pizzey born in 1913 and we think his father's name was George Pizzey.

The family is very broken up and in fact my father (Ernest's son) moved and raised us in Australia were all the other brother's and sisters moved changing the family name to Steele.  It was my father who found our old family name and changed it back.

Anyone have any interest in the PIZZEY name or have info would be really grateful if you could share.

Kindest regards
Jaymee
