The Common Room / Glossary abbrieviation - COMPLETED
« on: Wednesday 21 July 21 05:16 BST (UK)  »
I wish to expand "Reg. Mon. Winch. ii, pp. 511–14."

It appears as the footnote 139 in A History of the County of Gloucester: Volume 7, ed. N. M. Herbert (Oxford, 1981), pp. 218-227. As transcribed on British History Online http://www.british-history.ac.uk/vch/glos/vol7/pp218-227.

Can anyone help me as I am trying to view that source.

The "Winch" could be Winchcombe.

Grantley

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / 1450 latin - last bit COMPLETED
« on: Thursday 03 September 20 06:37 BST (UK)  »
I am having enormous trouble coming to grips with these 6 lines. An english summary would suffice.
I can see that it mentions Alicia his wife. It mentions that if his daughters Alicia & Margareta get married. It also mentions John LOK & William GRAND (the executors).

Also, I don’t understand the character I underlined in red.

Can anyone help me please?

I think John KYTFELD is Margerie's son.
I can't see a link between John AWMER and Joan.

sorori mee C s It lego Joh[ann]i KYTFELD filio suo .... .... It lego Thome KYTFELD app[re]ntici[us] meo vj li xiij s iiij d

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / 1450 latin will - COMPLETED
« on: Tuesday 01 September 20 03:24 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to interpret a 1450 Will and I was hoping someone could help me please. In particular the children underlined in red. I am hoping the boy is Radulphus and the girl is Margarete.
The other part that I can’t crack is the repetitive wording for each child, that follows the word meo.

Could someone please tell me the latin word that I have highlighted.

I have seen a reference that suggests it may mean "late" or "formerly".

Agnes ROBERTH .... de paroch’ de Goutherst

I have a large tree with extensive notes.

I want to make it available to anyone, especially after I fall off the perch.

Are there any suggestions as to how I am going to do that.

I was using the World Connect Project via RootsWeb, but the wheels fell off that system a year ago and they don't appear to have things working as yet.

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / 1680 Scottish marriage interpretation

“James LAW, Skipper, Agnes LAW vide”

Am I right in interpreting the word “vide” as “widow”? I hope not.
