Nottinghamshire / Nottinghamshire Electoral Rolls 1940s-1950s
« on: Thursday 09 February 23 19:35 GMT (UK)  »
Good evening All,

Does anyone know the easiest way to access Nottingham electoral rolls for the 1940s and 1950s, please?

I believe that the British Library will have copies in London, but I wondered whether anyone on here has access to them locally?

Thanks very much,
Glen  :)

Hello All,

On the back of this photo it has the following printed: POST CARD.
And on the left it has: This space may now be used for Inland and Colonial Communications.
And on the right: The address only to be written here.

Any thoughts on a date, please?

Thanks ever so much,
Glen

Hello All,

Need your help with a date for this one please!
It looks like it's backed onto some dark green thick card?

Thanks so much,
Glen  :)

Hello All,

Any thoughts on this one? Could it be a school photo?
And when would you say it was taken??
It was amongst my great grandmother's half-a-dozen photos, so it may possibly be St Paul's in Maidstone, but I don't know that for sure.
She was born in 1892, if that helps with the year.

Thanks so much for your help,
Glen

« on: Friday 20 August 21 20:47 BST (UK)  »
Good evening,

Does anyone know which newspapers existed in 1975 and which ones would've covered the story of a car accident and of the subsequent inquest into the death?

Thanks for your help,
Glen

Good afternoon,

Without ordering from the GRO, does anyone know of another way to find a 1915 marriage record from Maidstone?

(The marriage is for Mabel Smith and Charles/Percy Stevens)

Thanks very much,
Glen

Dublin / Mrs Malone - Dublin 1933 - Nursing Mother / Mother Nurse / Foster Parent
« on: Sunday 25 April 21 17:26 BST (UK)  »
Hello All,

Looking for any information on the Nursing Mother / Mother Nurse "Mrs Malone", in Dublin, in 1933 (and the surrounding period).

In today's world, they would be known as Foster Parents. These women took in babies/children from the Mother & Baby Homes and other institutions.

I don't have a first name, unfortunately.

Does anybody know whether they had to be registered? Whether they were connected to particular institutions or could take in babies from anywhere?

Would be great to find out who Mrs Malone was.

Thanks very much,
Glen
