Europe / looking to decipher text on the rear of some photos please
« on: Sunday 30 July 17 15:20 BST (UK)  »
Hi
I have uploaded the rear of some photos that were in my Stepfathers possesion when he came over to the UK after ww2, I wouls like to know if someone could translate these please, I think most of the text is Serbian as he lived in Yugoslavia before the war and was in various prison camps in Germany.
he died over 20 years ago and there is no family left so if they are a personal nature that is no problem.

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Require help on translation of ww2 docs
« on: Monday 17 July 17 16:46 BST (UK)  »
Hi All
Would anyone be able to translate a couple of items for me please.
These are a couple of scanned docs that belonged to my Stepfather who passed away over 20 years ago, I have a lots of paperwork which is in Yugoslavian and German from when he was a prisoner of war and possibly after when he was repatriated to the uk. I realise that there could be some personal items in some documents but that is not a problem as I am the only one left in my family and it would be great to read the letters ect.

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / ww2 letters translation help
« on: Saturday 15 July 17 12:36 BST (UK)  »
Hi all
Not sure if this is the correct place for this request and if not I do apologise.

I have lots of letters and documents including some stalag postcards of my late stepfather, they are mainly Yugoslavian and German, I was hoping I could get these docs translated one day as he was a prisoner of war in Germany and after the war he came over to the UK as he always said he could not go back to his country. All the documents and letters ect have been scanned to PDF and JPG.
it would be great if I could find out what is in these documents as he passed away over 20 years ago and I have kept a suitcase with all the items in and even his dog tag.
Thanks for reading this and hope someone can help me.

Family History Beginners Board / trying to find a illegitimate birth
« on: Wednesday 20 April 16 15:21 BST (UK)  »
Hi All
Not sure if anyone can help but trying to find a birth of a child that my mother had when she maybe was around 14 to 18 years old, this would have been about 1925 to 1931 as she then met and married my Father in 1932. My mother was born in 1913. The story was given to me by my Sister, and my Mother was sent away to have the child and it was adopted, she never did name the father, My mother told my sister that he was christened George Morley and remained back in grantham in Lincolnshire. I have searched lots of web sites but have yet to find any information.

My Mothers Name : Lucy Morley , born 1913 Grantham, Lincolnshire died in 2003.
Son born around 1925 to 1931
Married my father (Cyril Roberts, in Dec. 1932) (he was born in Grantham)
My Mother had connections with Chesterfield, Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire.
Thanks for looking and if I can help with any more info please contact me.

Hi All
I have been trying to find some marriage details for a Joseph Lee, born I believe in Rhyl, north wales, he married a Gladys Darcey but no dates on that only that he joined the army in about 1939. I understand he was stationed for a time in the Doncaster area as he met Gladys in Burghwallis, Doncaster where the some of the Darcey family lived. Gladys I do know was born in Burghwallis in 1922 and died in Grantham, Lincolnshire in 2006.
Any details would be most welcome.

Thanks for looking

US Lookup Requests / looking for information on usa immigration
« on: Wednesday 21 January 15 08:54 GMT (UK)  »
Hi
Looking for any information on a Frank Darcey born 1906 Lincolnshire uk.
it appears he immigrated to the usa as he may be in the US city directories for 1821-1989
He was found dead in Wyoming in 1939. sorry the info i have is a little sparce but i do not have access to Ancestry World wide. He may have still been in the UK in 1924 as someone with the same name was fined in Grantham Court for having no rear light.
