United States of America / James, Ann & Maria Cooper in N.Y.
« on: Sunday 01 August 10 15:38 BST (UK)  »
Hi all, I hope you can help me.
I have a James Cooper c1830, Ann c 1828 and Maria c 1861 and from Nottinghamshire, England  are on the  1861 census in England, have a son Samuel in 1864, but dissapear before the next census in 1871.
In 1871 Samuel is living with relatives in Calverton Nottingham, and is my Great Grandfather, but of his sister and parents no trace.

Then I found on the 1880 census of N.Y.

318 Madison Street, Brooklyn in Kings County New York
James aged 51, Ann 52 and Maria 19.

However try as I might from the U.K. I can find no further evidence of them.

I wonder if you could help. Did Maria marry and have a family? Can you see them on other census?  Any information would be much appreciated, although I guess I'll never know why they left Great grandad behind.

Thanks

Skewy.

Hi, could somebody look up David c1857 and James Campbell c1851 born Ballygawley area please.
James was a farmer in Millix in 1901 & 1911, but would be grateful if anybody could find their parents or other siblings. In the census they are both listed as Presbytarian if that is of any help.

Thank you

Nottinghamshire / Distillery Street Ruddington
« on: Monday 21 June 10 01:33 BST (UK)  »

I had ancestors lived on Distillery Street in Ruddington and just wondered, apart from the obvious, how it got its name.
i.e. was there a distillery, and what did they distill?

Dublin / Marriage Look Up Please
« on: Sunday 23 August 09 23:29 BST (UK)  »
Hi,  I wonder if anybody can find the marriage of John Chambers to Evelyn (Eva) Campbell about 1919. On the 1911 census the name is given as Eva, her religion given as methodist and the DED as Fitzwilliam. The home address then was Lower Leeson Street. Eva father was David and mother was Elizabeth. John Chambers was a trader from Liverpool.

Thanks
