« on: Thursday 16 April 20 17:28 BST (UK)  »
Hi
Wonder if anyone has access to PRs for Nettlestead or Wateringbury?

Im looking for a marriage for a Robert Watson to an Ann ......

First known child chr 1784 in Wateringbury
Subsequent children chr in Hadlow, though no marriage there

Possible link with Nettlestead.

If neither of these parishes, then any other parish in the area?

No other info needed.
Thanks.

Hi

Just on the offchance someone has access to this marriage - I would love the details!

Don't need anything else about this pair (have found out loads, trying to find some info that would rule them "in" or "out" as mine) but a fathers name from a marriage cert would help me know if it is "my" Benjamin or not!

Thanks

Suffolk Lookup Requests / Yoxford PRs - 1915 and 1925
« on: Tuesday 22 January 19 12:35 GMT (UK)  »
Hi
This is probably a long shot, but on the offchance someone has access to PRs for Yoxford (or surrounding parishes?) for the years 1915 and 1925, I would be very very grateful if they could have a quick squint and see if sisters Harriet Esther Flegg (1925)  and Emma Laura Flegg (1915) married there, and if so what are the full details, especially that of the bridegrooms and the bridegrooms fathers- who I am thinking are Ernest and William Alfred Gooding (and hoping they both have father Frederick James!)

Thanks!

The Common Room / Binstead mysteries.
« on: Monday 18 December 17 13:57 GMT (UK)  »
Hi
Not often I put a request on here, but this family is annoying me with all their unanswered questions, so I thought I'd run it past all the Rootschat experts!

Looking at : Thomas Binstead bn 1860 Croydon
(he has, amongst many other siblngs, a sister Esther Kate bn 1865 Croydon, last seen 1881 census as a female servant in Croydon)

I dont need anything about his birth/parents etc - I have most of his family sorted.

Apart from -

Thomas is at home in 1881 (RG11 811 25 43) in Croydon, age 21, bn Croydon, with parents Richard and Sarah. He is a painters labourer Nearly all the family are painters/decorators and the like.

I cant find him in 1891

1901 (RG13 638 32 55) he is still in Croydon, age 41, bn Croydon, a house painter, with a wife Mary A, also 41 (bn Camden Town) , and a son Thomas age 8 and bn Croydon.

By 1911 Thomas is widowed, still a painter, lodging at an Inn in Sevenoaks Kent!

Now - there is a marriage Jul/Aug/Sep 1887 , Windsor, where the 4 names are Thomas Binstead, Mary Ann Williams, Esther Kate Binstead, and Joseph Charles Smart.

Could this be his marriage to the Mary A, and also his sisters marriage to Mr Smart? Why on earth in Windsor, that is another question of course!

But - whoever married who out of the 4 names, and whether or not they are "my" Thomas and Esther or not, I cant find any of the people from those 2 marriage in 1891, to try and confirm or rule them out as mine!  Not Mr Smart, with wife Esther or Mary, or a Thomas (mine or otherwise) with wife Mary or Esther.
My other approach was to find the birth ref for young Thomas, who is 8 on 1901, to see if mmn was Williams or not. Can I find that? No!
So that, aswell as the fact I can find no later reference to Thomas junior on a census or death, makes me begin to doubt the marriage,  thinking maybe Thomas junior was actually under a different surname as Thomas senior and MAry A maybe hadnt married?

Can any of my friends here see either couple on 1891? Or "my" Thomas on 1891 either married or still single (the latter ruling out the marriage as being him), or see the Esther Kate, who married either Mr Smart or another Thomas, on 1891?  Or find a birth ref for Thomas junior? Or indeed anything further on Thomas junior.

So many things not tieing together.  Thanks.

« on: Tuesday 03 October 17 12:29 BST (UK)  »
Hi
Does access to PRs for Kirton around 1821/23 ish?

If so I would be very grateful if you could see if a William Gooding was baptised around that sort of time (age 50 in 1871, 40 in 1861, 28 in 1851, birthplace consistently Kirton),  if so please can you let me have the details, and also if pos have a look at years either side to see if there are siblings ?

Thanks.

« on: Monday 24 April 17 15:19 BST (UK)  »
Does anyone have access to PR's for Wye for 1871?  If so, I'd be very grateful for full details (especially fathers names) of the marriage on 24 Sept 1871 of James Sharp and Sarah Epps.
Thank you.

The Common Room / GRO index query. I can't understand this!
« on: Saturday 10 December 16 20:03 GMT (UK)  »
Looking at FreeBMD (or equivalent on a subscription site) :

Birth
Oct/Nov/Dec 1882
Elham Reg District
Ref 2a 1008A
Olive Lewis Pilcher

Looking at actual image of the index page, yes, that is what it says and there is no other registration with that page number

However - looking at the "new" gro index site -
Birth
Oct/Nov/Dec 1882
Elham
Ref 2a 1008 A
Martha Lizzie Pilcher
mmn Austen

No Olive comes up on this site, it only has Martha. No Martha comes up on the other site, that only has Olive!

Just what is going on.

(Just to complicate things, this girl seems to use the name Celine in later life! But I'm not seeking help with any of that, just with sorting out the birth entries)

In theory there could be two children, either twins, or as it happens there is a another Pilcher/Austen couple having children at the same time.  But the fact that they have the same reg number, with the "A" added implying an additional page added, makes it seem unlikely?   And why, when I looked at the actual page of the gro index is there only Olive?
How many children are there - and if only one what is she called?

Surrey Completed Look up Requests / Kingston Cemetery
« on: Tuesday 22 November 16 20:56 GMT (UK)  »
I know this is a really big ask, so I am not really expecting anyone to be able to sort it.

However, just in case anyone happens to be wandering around Kingston Cemetery, and happens to be in Section C, and happens to pass grave 1482, where an Ellen Wickenden was buried who had died on 15th Jan 1928,  please could you note down what is says on the headstone (assuming there is one!)

Thanks - just in case any of you do happen to be there!

I have no idea how to post a little bit of this Will - so would appreciate help!

The Will is of William Massey of Union Street, Old Artillery Ground, Middlesex, proved 30 Dec 1804 (which out of interest was also the day he was buried - they didn't hang around in those days did they!!)

Anyway, I have read most of it, but am stuck on the first name of "his daughter by a former wife" who is mentioned in the Will. I have all the other info I need  - it is just that one word!!!!!!  What was the name of this daughter? (She would be Step daughter to current wife Frances, step sister to other daughter, also Frances)

Thanks - either for telling me how to post that line of the Will (in very simple terms) , better still doing it for me, or having a go at deciphering the daughter's name.
