Uriah, the tenth child, of Richard & Elizabeth Doughty nee Holt,  born January 4 1820, in Broughton by Brigg in Lincolnshire, England & married Alice Preston on 16th October 1843,  and  had a daughter Alice born 1 August 1847 & then a son, John born 14 January,  1849, then came to Canada with her father Joseph Preston, a widower after 1851, but before 6 December 1855, when their son Richard was born at Walpole, Haldimand, Ontario, Canada. They spent a short time in the Toronto area then moved to the Jarvis district. Uriah and his wife and family rented a house of the fifth block of the 5th Concession of Walpole owned by a MacDonald across the road from the farm owned now by Gordon Mitchell. The building is gone and for years the land uncultivated but a deep hole which was a root cellar could be seen for some time.
I haven’t been able to discover the date Uriah & his wife & her father Joseph Preston came to Canada. He may have sailed from Kingston-upon Hull.

Robert DIXON, born Durham, 1868 son on Arthur DIXON, Milk Dealer, married in Chorlton, died 1922 in Blackley, a clay miner, & excavator.
The above named, married Lily MORRILL whose birth name was Mary Elizabeth.

Were married in the Register Office by Certificate before me, James Bloomfield, Registrar & David S. Bloomfield, Supt Registrar.
The census of 1911, lists them with 124 Walnut Street, Hightown, Broughton, Salford, Lancashire.

2. Lily DIXON, Wife, 39, Married, for 15 years, 8 children born alive, 4 boys & 4 girls, born Whitby

4. Lily DIXON, Daughter, 10, at School, born Manchester
5. Emily Maud DIXON, Daughter, 5, at School, Born Manchester
6. William Henery DIXON, son, 1, Born Manchester

I have found loads about Lily/Mary Elizabeth Morrill, but nothing about Robert DIXON, prior to his marriage-nothing in any census, 1901, 1891 etc-I have no idea where a clay mine was in Chorlton area-anyone got any ideas about clay mining or census?

Just trying to find the marriage of Samuel LOCKER to Harriet ORME, around 1834. The Orme family, including Harriet, were all born and christened in Blackfordby, and their first son Thomas Bevan LOCKER was born there in 1835, christened there on 26 April, 1835,  before the family moved on to Breedon on the Hill 8 miles away. I have found some marriages transcribed on rootsweb to 1833, but nothing beyond then. Anyone help at all?

John Bryson, born 24 June 1806 at Holy Island and his wife Mary, maiden name unknown, had a son called John Trotter Bryson.  He was born in 1834-there is a record of his baptism at Newcastle St John, 5 May 1834, John Trotter son of John Bryson & Mary (deceased), of St Peter’s Quay, father’s occupation, blacksmith. On Family Search there is record of the burial of a Mary Bryson at Newcastle St John on 5 May 1834 aged 29, so born 1805.
I would like to be able to find their marriage, so her maiden name. I haven’t actually seen this baptism, just been told it exists. Has anyone any of these baptisms at Newcastle St John that can confirm the above.
I know that John went on to marry Hannah Stephenson, nee Forster, widow of John Stephenson who was killed in his brother’s foundry in Newcastle in 1831.

John (trotter) Bryson, in 1861 is with the Forster family in Gateshead, shown as  nephew, no doubt related to his step-mother Hannah Bryson, nee Forster.

Can anyone help with this first marriage of John Bryson please?

Reverend Edgar Thomas Selby born 1881 in Buxton, Derbyshire married Faith Hunter, a deaconess in the Wesleyan Methodist Missionary Society about 1910 in Batticaloa, Ceylon. Any suggestions where I could find the date of this marriage? It’s believed that Faith died in Ceylon before 1932, when the Reverend Selby returned to Britain, any suggestions of where I could find her date of death and burial?
