Donegal / Brittons From Donaghmore
« on: Thursday 07 February 19 19:28 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

Can anyone help me find any Brittons who came from Donaghmore, namely Robert, Margaret, children of Robert & Dorcas Hill. Robert jnr. married Elizabeth Porter and had a son named George circa 1813 possibly in Donaghmore.

I've tried looking on familysearch, and Ancestry but haven't found anything.

The family were presbyterian.

Donegal / Margaret Britton/Bratton - Born in Donaghmore, Raphoe c. 1788

Hi,

I'm looking for info on my 3 x gg aunt Margaret Britton/Bratton, (b.c. 1788) who came from Donaghmore in Raphoe. I know her family were presbyterian, so was wondering which church would her family have attended. Would there be any parish records for b.d.m's for the late 1780-90's onwards ?

I can't seem to find any info the family online at the usual sites, familysearch, etc.

Donegal / Robert Britton - Where in Donegal Did He Come From ?
« on: Thursday 10 January 19 12:49 GMT (UK)  »

Hi,

I have just discovered that my 3 x gg grandfather Robert Britton came from Donegal, circa 1793 ish.
I know he was married to Elizabeth Porter (1st wife) in Ireland and 2nd wife Agnes McMillan in Paisley, Scotland in 1830. His children with Elizabeth were George b.c. 1808, (not sure if natural son) Robert b.c. 1822, Jane, b. 1823 (my 2 x g grandmother) & John b. 1829 all born in Paisley, bar George.
He was a hand loom weaver by trade, and was presbyterian he died in 1859.

His parents were Robert Britton & Dorcas ? Hill.

Can anyone help me with trying to locate where in Donegal he came from ?

Thanks,

Daryl

Hi,

I'm trying to find my 3 x great uncle James Gillespie b. 27 Oct 1838 in Fort William, Argyll, to David Gillespie & Mary McMillan. According to his father David's death cert, James was living at 344 Holmhead St, Glasgow in March 1861.

I've tried to find him in the census, but can't seem to locate him.

Can anyone help ?

Thanks,

Daryl

Hi,

I'm trying to find a military record for my ancestor Alexander Keillor, b. 23 Feb 1798 in Inverkeillor.
According to his death cert, for 23 Dec 1861, he was a Chelsea pensioner. I'd like to know which regiment he served in, etc.

Lanarkshire / William Rodger - Reformed Presbyterian ? 1780's - 1800's
« on: Friday 02 June 17 20:24 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

I'm trying to find any info relating to William Rodger, who lived at Foulyet/Foulyett farm, Bothwell parish. He was a farmer, and his son William was born circa 1798 in Bothwell.

I can't find any records for William in the o.p.r's and think he and his family may of have been reformed presbyterians (Cameronians/Covenanters) as another Rodger (James, possibly a brother) is mentioned as living at the same farm and having Covenanter ancestors.

I'd like to know if William would have attended the church at Great Hamilton St. in Glasgow, and did it exist at that time ? or would there have been a church nearer to where he lived ? would he have been buried in Glasgow or Bothwell ?

Thanks,

Daryl

Longford / Thomas Farrell b.c.1783 in Ardagh, Longford ?
« on: Tuesday 03 January 17 15:15 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

I'm trying to locate where my 3 x great grandfather Thomas Farrell son of Thomas Farrell (b.c. 1783) (b.c.1748 in Longford) & Dina/h Sweeton was born.

I have a feeling it was Longford as his son John Farrell b.c.1806 was apparently born in Longford, and his other 2 other children were born in Ardagh ? daughters Isabella & Sarah. My 2 x great grandmother Mary was born in Antrim, according to records.

Thomas's wife was Agnes McVitie, they all died in Kilbirnie, Ayrshire, Scotland.

Can anyone help  :-\ ?
