Suffolk / Lost Arthur Charles Blaza 1894 to 1911
« on: Wednesday 04 March 20 16:57 GMT (UK)  »
Please could someone help me out here, we are trying to find Arthur Charles Blaza born 1870 Hardley Norfolk.  We know all about his parentage back and have him on all census except 1901 and 1911

Facts I know are that he was born 1870 Hardley Norfolk
He married Elizabeth Mary Anne Barrett or Berrett in Lowestoft Suffolk 8 April 1894

I have nothing more on him till he married again on 19th June 1921 to Emily Morris in Kingston Upon Hull.
we have his children too but he is an enigma between 1894 and 1921
Help would be appreciated as the name is notorious for being spelt wrong.

I am hoping someone may be able to help us in our search for the mother of Dorothy J Marshall. She was born in the march quarter of 1930 in the Bosmere registration district and her mothers maiden name is Gale.
Her father was James Ernest Samuel Marshall who was born 1904 I believe in Winston, indeed we can search the family back in that area but nowhere can we find any record of the mother.
We really would like to get certificate but funds are very low at present   :'(  so were hoping some kind person may have access to the baptism records. or may be able to find a marriage which is eluding us
The only other mention of mothers surname is with the brother of Dorothy, who is  James Ernest Samuel born June quarter 1932 Dunmowe reg district which I believe is actually Essex. Mothers surname is given as Gale there too.
If anyone could help we would be very gratefull.

I am being bought a gift subscription, but I am unsure which site will be best for my purposes, i know they are both great sites in their own right. Baring in mind that the majority of my research will be in england specifically Norfolk.  Can anone recommend which would be best for me. Ancestry or Find my past?  :-\ :-\

Norfolk / Robert Cubitt 1695 married Martha Peascod
« on: Thursday 23 November 17 14:24 GMT (UK)  »
Sometime ago I helped a good friend research her family tree but we had to call a holt for a while.  She has now asked me if I could look into it some more she is particularly interested in Robert Cubitt, we have his marriage and children and can follow the line down to present day but we cant seem to go back any further,  We know he was born approx. 1695 and died 1769,  he  married Mary Peascod in 1735.  But I am at a loss as to his parentage, there are so many of the cubitts too.  Is there anyone familiar with this line who could point me in the right direction please.

Norfolk Lookup Requests / Stratton Strawless or Hevingham
« on: Thursday 06 December 12 23:34 GMT (UK)  »
Hi I would like to know if anyone could help me with the following

Ann Bircham born somewhere around 1850 - on her marriage record her father is down as Maris (Myris) Bircham - but after hours of census searching as the names were badly transcribed  I finally found them on 1851 and 1861 census and on both she is down as his Granddaughter.

The family lived in Stratton and Hevingham over the years but most census have Ann as being born in Stratton,  I have not found birth record for certificate so am hoping someone may have access to the baptism records to see if she is there and find out exactly who her parent/s are.

Any help much appreciated

going offline now will check back tomorrow Thanks

Norfolk / MISSING - 11 children please help
« on: Tuesday 04 September 12 19:18 BST (UK)  »
I am delving into the Foyster name

I have a William Foyster born abt 1851 Norwich he married Elizabeth Harriett Lowe in 1871 st Peter Per Mountergate Norwich

I have them on all census except 1901 where they are proving elusive

I found 7 children for them

William J born 1872 Norwich
Frederick Charles born 1880 Norwich
David Henry born 1882 Norwich
Thomas Andrew born 1883 Norwich
John born 1885 Norwich
Albert Edward  born 1886 Norwich
Lucy born 1891 Norwich  died 1892 Norwich

According to the 1911 census there were 18 children born alive to this marriage but by 1911 11 had died (most tragic)
I know John was still alive as he was with his parents - I also know David was still living
Lucy is the only death I have

Please can anyone help me determine the other 11 children and which had actually died

also help finding william and elizabeth on 1901 would be appreciated

Suffolk / Shipmeadow and my Lincolns
« on: Saturday 26 May 12 21:30 BST (UK)  »
I have a further update on my James Lincoln and would greatly appreciate some input so to speak.

I mentioned him  in an earlier thread but have since gotten additional info

James Lincoln was supposedly born around 1805 Shipmeadow according to most census, one says Beccles but we have ruled that out. James married Mary Morley in 1825 in Norwich and lived the rest of his life there - as far as I can see all children were also born there.

I recently discovered that James wife mary died in 1849 and James remarried in 1858 to a widow named Sarah King - I got terribly excited as a marriage after 1837 gave me a certificate with a fathers name on - I now Know James father was Henry Lincoln occupation Sawyer and was already deceased in 1858.
Thought I could carry on then but alas I still cannot find a correct mother for James and wife for Henry

so far I have found only one possible henry on 1841 census if you keep the Norfolk/suffolk place of living and thats a Henry Lincoln living in St Clements Norwich in 1841 with wife Mary but there is also a marriage of a Henry Lincoln to an Elizabeth Thurston in 1803 in Tharston  but no age given. A possible given that James named a son Thurston

Then there is a marriage for a Henry I found on 1841 is to Mary Millington in 1792 st Augustine Norwich this Henry would be abt 36 when James was born on 1805  mary would have been 41 but is it the right one, the census gives his occupation just as Labourer - i am very much at a loss here - someone checked the transcriptions for shipmeadow and said 1805 was missing but they didn't say if they checked a year or 2 either side. I am unable to get to the records office so am now well and truly - stuck

All this is not taking into account Henry may even have died before 1841 there is a death mentioned for the wangford district in 1840 but of course no details sigh

Devon / Combe martin marriage
« on: Monday 23 April 12 22:34 BST (UK)  »
Please is anyone able to help me. A few years back now someone kindly checked for a marriage for me of a John Bynon to a Jane Peake. My tree programme contains the names and date 28th Dec 1806 Combe Martin but at the time i was a bit of a novice at this research and failed to record sources etc. I have had the misfortune of losing much paper work in a move and am keen to  prove my sources and info now and take this tree back further.

If anyone is able to confirm the record for me and say if any other facts were on it I would be most grateful

I am also trying to find John and jane on 1841 census record, in 1851 and 1861 they are living in Dibden Hampshire

They died in 1864 and 1868 Hythe Hampshire

I know of 3 children
Mary born Combe martin she married Henry Ediss but I don't yet know when
richard also born combe martin (died in Calcutta in 1841) he was captain of the John Witt
Then there was Agness born in Cornwall in 1819 - she married edwin white in 1847 Dibden Hampshire

please can anyone help me find some more facts here

Suffolk / shipmeadow
« on: Wednesday 11 April 12 16:06 BST (UK)  »
I would like a little advice from some suffolk experts please - so far my research has been based mostly in Norfolk but I have undertaken to help a friend who links to my tree in a roundabout way anyway. It has taken me over the border to suffolk a place called Shipmeadow.  Please could someone tell me if this place has its own records as so far the info i have found on the family has been around about in Norwich. Most cenus say James Lincoln (the fella I am stuck on) was born in Ship meadow but one says Beccles. However the family were living in Norwich on all cenus - he was married in Norfolk too in 1825 to Mary Morley - I am just stumped as to finding his parentage. he was born approx 1805

can anyone advice please as getting to Suffolk records office for me is an impossibility
