Hi,

Looking for some help please dating these 2 family photos to try identify who might be in them.

I think the group photo may be about 1893 - if it is the family I think, the youngest daughter was born in 1886. Grateful for any input on whether this sounds about right?

The 2 individual photos, I'm not sure if these are the parents from the group photo but would appreciate any thoughts on dates for these as well.

They were all taken by Turnbull and Sons, Artistic Photographers, 10 Jamaica Street, corner of Argyll Street, Glasgow.

LDS records show the 1820 census is avaliable for Irvine in Ayrshire which includes name of family head, age, occupation, and religion, but I'm not sure where to go about finding it; can't find it on the NAS catalogue.

Has anyone consulted this before and know anything further about it?

I was wondering if anyone knows anything further about this church.

I have one ancestor baptised here but I can't find any other members of their family there; I managed to get the following from LDS:

History—
In 1751, the Earl of Eglinton as patron presented the Rev. Charles Bannatyne of Kilmory, in Arran, to the church and parish of Irvine, then vacant. The presentee was inducted to his charge in direct opposition to the strongly expressed feelings of a large portion of his parishioners against him. Application was made to the Relief Presbytery for supply of sermon. A petition was presented to the Relief Presbytery of Glasgow, on the 18th of August 1773, and a place of worship was built.

Am I correct in saying that the relief church was formed because many locals objected to the Rev Bannatyne, and not because of any real difference in religious opinion with the established church?
Was also wondering whether anyone knew why there is a gap in baptisms between 1790 and 1807 in their records, and how I might go about consulting the session minutes to fill in that gap.

Hi there people

I was wondering if someone can help me out with these two photos. It is my belief that the the first photo shows the eldest male of 4 generations of my family. It is a smallish photo, about the size of a postcard, and is also printed on a thick card. The card was snapped in half, and its fairly obvious where I've tried to digitally merge it.

The second photo was done in 1910-1912 approximately, shortly before the eldest gentleman in the picture died. As you can see, I've had to scan it and piece it together as the original is large - perhaps about 30cm x 45cm. It has an iridescent sheen quality to the black parts of the photo, which made it a little difficult to scan.

My question is..... does the first photo look like the same people as the second photo, a generation before? And am I correct in thinking the first photo would be taken around 1890? The dates I've given are based purely upon who I believe to be in the photos and their dates of birth, so please correct me if it seems wildly inaccurate. I'm not sure at the minute if the first photo is an earlier photo of the same people or a photo of a different line of the family, so some dating on the first photo would be most helpful.
