Armed Forces / Uniform identification
« on: Wednesday 26 July 23 18:39 BST (UK)  »
Hi everyone,

I'm hoping all you experts out there can help identify an army uniform.
A friend of mine bought a very old book and as an added bonus this photo fell out.
The back of the photo is dated June 1861.

I'm not even sure if it is a British uniform.

Any help would be appreciated.

Purely for curiosity's sake.

Many thanks,

Linda

Hi everyone,

Could I please ask a big favour and ask if some kind sole would look up the following person on the electoral registers.

I am looking for a J P P J Shaw (born around 1945 in Ireland). He was living in the Stockwell area of Lambeth in the 1970's and 80's.

He was married to a May Shaw. They had 2 children that would have been eligible to vote in the 90's.

1. Removed
2. Removed

I believe the wife May died in 1990.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as a friend is trying to trace her father.

Thanks,

Linda

Hi,

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to find out the Regiment or part of the Royal Artillery someone served in if you have their soldier number?

I found this out from the RA records on Ancestry.

Arnold George Revell Soldier number: 1708145

I know he was in Italy. I think he was on the AKAK guns.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Linda

London & Middlesex Lookup Requests / Looking for the baptism of Elizabeth Outhwaite
« on: Monday 09 September 13 14:36 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

Can anybody help me find the baptism of Elizabeth Outhwaite?

She married in 1750 to a Henry Clements in St Georges Chapel Mayfair. The record says that she was of the parish of St Margaret Lothbury, which is in the city's square mile.

I'm not having much luck in finding her. The site that I found her marriage on, has her name transcribed as 'Cuthwaite', but the image says Outhwaite.

From the IGI Outhwaite seems to be a northern name.

Any help would be appreciated.

London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / Help I made a Boo Boo
« on: Saturday 29 June 13 15:32 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

Can anyone help.

I've looked up a record in the past at "st. George" parish, but omited to note where st. George is. (It doesn't say on the image of the record I have).

It's the baptism of Elizabeth Louisa Clement 25 Dec 1817. Father Richard Clement, mother Mary Clement.

Elizabeth was born 19 April 1817.

My guess is it's st. George in the East.

London & Middlesex Lookup Requests / possible siblings
« on: Tuesday 12 March 13 12:45 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

Dawn was kind enough to look up the birth details of:

Richard Clement bapt 3 Nov 1767 in St George Hanover Square, Westminster for me yesterday.

Could I impose further and ask if someone could look for possible siblings for him for me please?

Parents names are Henry & Elizabeth Clement.

Also are there many Clement families there, or are they limited to a couple.

Many thanks,

Linda  :)

Armed Forces / Could anyone Identify this regimental badge please
« on: Wednesday 09 January 13 17:48 GMT (UK)  »
Hi everyone,

I'm after some help in identifying a regimental badge. I thought it was a cap badge, but someone has told me it might be a collar badge.
It may have belonged to my Grandfather, in which case it could be either WW1 or WW2. (He was unfortunate enough to have served in both wars).
It could equally have belonged to my uncle, in which case it would have been when he was in the National Service around 1948-1950.

Any help would be appreciated.
