Renfrewshire / catherine mc bryde
« on: Friday 10 June 22 03:23 BST (UK)  »
Hi everyone  Greetings from New Zealand  .Catherine Mc  BRYDE (ms Devine) was the sister of my grandfather. She married Alexander Mc Bryde in 1874 at St John's  RC Church . I have tried in vain using Scotlands People to  find a death for her in Port-Glasgow or Greenock.  The marriage record I have for her is a church one  which gives only the couple being married and the witnesses.  I also havent been able to find any children of Catherine and Alexander using statutory records.  Does anyone have Catherine and Alexander  MCBRYDE in a family tree? Regards Orkrad

Lanarkshire / St Francis maternity hospital, govan
« on: Sunday 30 May 21 04:13 BST (UK)  »
Hi everyone ,Can anyone tell me whether the hospital records for the St Francis hospital still exist. My son was born there in  July 1964 and his birth cert does not record the name of the hospital, only the address 44 Merryland Street .  Were the  babies born there delivered by midwives or by doctors? I am just curious as I have no clear memory of the actual birth, but the care was excellent and the staff were very  solicitous.  This enquiry has been  kindled by watching many episodes of Call the Midwife!

New Zealand Completed Requests / jessie spencer smith arnold (1860-1920)

I am trying to find where this relative is buried. She was born in London in 1860. The family emigrated to New Zealand. Her maiden name was Jessie Spencer Smith . She married the architect Charles le Neve Arnold in Dunedin on 6 Dec 1882. She moved to Auckland where three sons were born.
I have tried the Auckland Cemeteries database without success. Also thought she might have been buried in Dunedin where most of her birth  family are  interred but again no results.  Any help finding Jessie would be realy appreciated . Thanks  Orkrad.

Lanarkshire / john burke/catherine burns marriage 1940's
« on: Sunday 09 August 20 00:28 BST (UK)  »
Greetings from Nz I am trying to find details on the above couple. John BURKE and Cathy BURNS/ BYRNS. John was a POW in Italy in WW2 and I am presuming the couple married between 1939-1946 either before the war or after John returned home.  They both lived in Glasgow possibly in Govan. I have tried Scotlands people statutory records and Church records ( they were Roman Catholic )  and Family  Search  and Ancestry without success . I am presuming they were both in their early 20's when they married . I have no other information on them.  Any help would be appreciated.

Renfrewshire / elizabeth gatens/duncan mc intyre marriage
« on: Saturday 11 July 20 03:29 BST (UK)  »
Hi everyone Elizabeth Mc intyre ( nee Gatens) was born in Port-Glasgow on 9 Nov 1873.  I have downloaded her birth cert from Scotlands people She married a Duncan Mc Intyre sometime after 1901 where she appears in the census living  withher brother's family in Port-Glasgow.  I have been told Duncan  was a local lad and an engineer  probably trained in a local shipyard like Kincaid's .
I have tried Scotland's people for a potential marriage without success.  I also tried Family Search  for a potential marriage in England but no luck.  Duncan Mc Intyre was an engineer and worked for the Cunard Line.  The couple later  moved to Bratton Park near Portsmouth and I have  tried  Family Search  !G! to try and locate their deaths so far without result.
Elizabeth was my great aunt and I would like to know a little  more about her and her husband Duncan Mc Intyre. Can anyone help? Thanks Orkrad.

Renfrewshire / electoral rolls renfrewshire
« on: Friday 01 May 20 00:36 BST (UK)  »
Greetings from New Zealand. I am researching a family story that one of our relatives fought and died with the International Brigade in Spain . I have tried various sources to find a list of those who were recruited from Greenock., including the list of Scottish volunteers and the International Brigade death list and I cant locate my relative.  I am wondering if I have a correct name.  Are there electoral rolls for Greenock in the 1930's? I am told he lived in Quarrier St Greenock with a local family. I have tried the Ancestry data base for Glasgow electoral rolls in the hope it might also contain Greenock information but so far no luck. I have also written to the Greenock Telegraph Archives  in the vague hope that they might have covered stories from that time but since so many Archives are closed I may have to wait  quite a while for a reply.  Any help would be much appreciated.  Regards Orkrad.
