« on: Sunday 10 September 23 16:28 BST (UK)  »
Hello

If any one has access, can you please check an article that appeared in the Springfield Union (or Springfield Morning Union) newspaper for a column entitled Our Readers' Exchange written by Alice Scott Ross possibly for the 6th August 1963 to confirm it is about a unique cookbook from 1905 belonging to Benjamin Horsley of Lowestoft.

I have the clipping but cannot post an image of it here

Thanks John

Cambridgeshire Lookup Requests / Benjamin Horsley - look up on 1861 census
« on: Thursday 24 August 23 15:07 BST (UK)  »
Benjamin Horsley was born Feb 1848 at Soham, Cambs to parents Joseph & Mary. I've found him OK age 3 with parents & 7 siblings on 1851 census living in Soham.

I cannot find him age 13 on 1861 census, he is not at his parents home in Soham. In an write up about him it says he was educated at Ely Cathedral chorister school which I think is a boarding school taking in children aged 7 to 13.

I have found him in his later years so he has not died. When he was 21 he went to Ottawa Canada and then to USA.

If anyone can find him then thanks for looking

Canada / Benjamin Horsley married Canada prior 1871
« on: Wednesday 03 May 23 16:33 BST (UK)  »
I have a Benjamin Horsley born 1848 Soham Cambridgeshire on the 1871 Canada Census living in Ottawa age 23 English with wife Arminella age 21 Irish. I'm wondering if anyone can point me to their marriage. On her burial monument in Beechwood cemetery Carleton, Ontario it says that she was Armanella S Barry, wife of Benjamin Horsley. She died 24 March 1892 at Hoosick Falls, New York.

Also I looking for any immigration info for Benjamin prior to this marriage.

Thanks in advance

Armed Forces / GRO Army Marriages Index
« on: Thursday 09 February 23 17:12 GMT (UK)  »
I have found an entry of a marriage on the the GRO Army Marriages Index (available on Family Search) in 1947 in Greece for Private Derek Austin Gaylor from Blunham Bedfordshire. From this index I found out that his bride's name was Spirldoula Konstantopoulou.

I am wondering if you can get a marriage certificate for them from the GRO. The reference is Station = Athens, Year = 47, Page = 3301

Sadly they both were killed in a road accident in August 1947 in Greece on their way to the airport to come to England.

Ireland / Will at National Archives of Ireland
« on: Thursday 15 April 21 16:16 BST (UK)  »
Hello, Anyone know when the National Archives of Ireland in Dublin might reopen, or if closed to public, might they respond to email enquiries.

I have noticed on their Calendar of Wills & Admins (available on FindMyPast) that there is a will for Anna Wright who died in Co.Kildare on 19 Oct 1862 that was proved on the oath of her sister Harriette Lewis Wright of Norwich...  I'd very much like to get a copy of that will as Anna/Anne Wright had an illegitimate son Louis Wright/Clement who was bought up by that sister and he is my maternal great grandfather.

Any news on how I get to see the will would be welcome

Regards

John

United States of America / Johnson Wadsworth from England to Vermont early 1820s
« on: Saturday 07 November 20 10:43 GMT (UK)  »
I have a Johnson Wadsworth (variations Johnsee/Johnsy/Jauncey) baptised 1789 in Pertenhall, Bedfordshire who with his wife Mary & 2 daughters Esther (1813) & Betsey (1817) ended up in Burlington, Chittenden, Vermont for 1830/40/50 US censuses. They had 2 other daughter born 1822 & 1825 in Vermont. Johnson died there in 1850 & wife Mary in 1852.

I am searching for any emigration/immigration & passenger list records that confirm when/how they travelled there and if any other Wadsworth family members came with them.

Thanks John

Oxfordshire / Jane & Fanny Woodward, baptisms at Bloxham
« on: Friday 22 November 19 09:42 GMT (UK)  »
Hello, I am looking for baptisms (& therefore parents) of Jane Woodward born c1797 and potential sister Fanny Woodward born c1798 in Bloxham, Oxfordshire. On Jane's marriage cert in 1847 to Samuel Partridge, she was a spinster & her father is Thomas Woodward, shoemaker. Fanny Woodward first married Thomas Charles in 1820 at Bloxham & as a widow, Fanny Charles married George Plummer in 1833 again at Bloxham.

I have tracked Fanny Plummer with husband George & children on 1841 census, & their children as either Charles or Plummer on 1851 census. Separately on 1851 census, Fanny Plummer is married age 52, a visitor to Samuel Partridge in Pavenham Beds who his with his new wife Jane age 53, also born in Bloxham in 1799, who he married 1847.

Thanks in anticipation  John
