Armed Forces / Emma Williams, Died 1891 Gibraltar
« on: Friday 17 April 20 21:05 BST (UK)  »
A Great Aunt Emma Williams, nee King, Died 1891 Buena Vista, Gibraltar. Her husband was Richard Kendrick Williams and i believe he served with The Kings Liverpool Regiment. They had 3 children I am aware of, the eldest Alice  born in Natal in 1885, Richard born 1887 at Straights Settlements, Singapore and Gladys born 1888 also Singapore.
I have not ordered a British Armed Forces And Overseas Deaths And Burials certificate before...are they available to order..... will there be a cause of death?
I feel a connection to Emma as I too spent time in Gibraltar (early 1980's) with young children and I was a similar age to Emma. Gibraltar has a lot of history and I now wonder if I stood where she stood when I visited the fish market etc etc. I don't know where she was buried. I know her husband remarried a couple of years later in Uk. Any suggestions where I may find out more.

Warwickshire / Walter Andrews family Birmingham
« on: Friday 31 January 20 23:07 GMT (UK)  »
Advice please,
Walter Andrews, 1852-1906, married Isabella Clara Beeby, 1855-1932 in 1876.
They have 2 children that I know of. Walter Thomas Richard, 1877-1905 and Frederick George, 1879-1916.
I can find the family 1881 census, Mothers name given as Ellen.
I cannot find anyone 1891 census.
I can find Walter Thomas Richard 1901 census with wife Louisa (married 1899) but not the others.
I have looked at some travel records and name varients and initials. Any trees I can find them in don't have these Census either.
Any one have any suggestions?

Hampshire & Isle of Wight / Edward(us) Relfe, Gent 1710-1734 Alton Hants
« on: Monday 09 December 19 11:14 GMT (UK)  »
Its highly unlikely that the above gent is related to me, all my Relfs  are in Sussex, but on Saturday we visited the Christmas Tree Festival at St Lawrence Church Alton when I realised the mat in the porch that I was standing on was obscuring a stone with the name Relfe!! pulling back the edge it revealed Edwardus Relfe Gent, born 8th October 1710 died 4th August 1734. I have found a will but nothing else....anybody have this Gent in their tree or can make any suggestions? (sister Dorothy I believe from will)

I am searching for a friend, We know Frederick George Warwick served in WW1 and WW2 in the Navy. I have seen a copy of his certificate of service in the Navy which says he was awarded BEM 22nd March 1941.A copy of a letter from Whitehall which anotes his name with BEM, letter is dated Jan 1945. There is a copy of recommendation for the George Medal dated 1940 and a newspaper article that said he had been awarded "the medal of the military division of the OBE " for rendering enemy mines harmless, dated March 1941.
Has any one any suggestions please?

Somerset / Which record is correct?
« on: Tuesday 15 October 19 22:37 BST (UK)  »
Nicholas Bennett born abt 1585, married Joan/joanne Holbrook 1606.
If I use Ancestry/ family search, I can find a  burial for Nicholas 1606 and 1626 Glastonbury on Find A Grave. One 22nd March, one 23rd March, no photos. Is this a case of different interpretation of text on headstone?

The Common Room / Mending an Iron Foot!
« on: Saturday 17 August 19 22:47 BST (UK)  »
i found a curiosity in a newspaper article.
It referred  to a Church register of accounts  (1774)  and there are 2 items connected to my person of interest.

Mending Sarah Hudman's iron foot    1 shilling and 3 pence

Sarah Hudman - new leg         9 pence

Trying to imagine  the Iron foot! Does anyone have any medical history interests?
( i assume a new leg would be  a wooden leg)

Staffordshire / Baptisms
« on: Friday 09 August 19 19:46 BST (UK)  »
I have  a family from Bilston and some of their children were baptised and appear on "All England & Wales, Non-Conformist and Non-Parochial Registers, 1567-1970" records on Ancestry. I was cross checking some things on Find my past  and found the whole family of children Baptised in January 1803, under "Staffordshire baptisms".

Any suggestions why please?
