As per the attached image, does anyone have any idea where 'Rewarren'  is?  Perhaps it is the name of a farm?  Thank you

Moray (Elginshire) / US Naturalisation
« on: Tuesday 01 December 20 05:02 GMT (UK)  »
I have a chap, born in 1857 in Elgin, and listed living there in the Censuses of 1861, '71 and '81. He emigrated to America in 1885, and his naturalisation/citizenship papers show that he renounced his allegiance to the President of France, rather than Queen Victoria.

Would anyone have any clue why this would be?

Thank you

Lancashire / Dixon Officer
« on: Friday 08 March 19 08:18 GMT (UK)  »
Dixon Officer (1863-1944) was born in Ireland to parents James Officer and Mary Jane Dixon, who married in 1855 in Shankill, Belfast. He moved with his parents to Pendleton, Lancashire and married Sarah Jane Ireland in Bradford in November 1883; they had 4 daughters. I have pinpointed Dixon and his family in the England census' 1881-1939.

Dixon had a brother, Robert, born 16 March 1872, in Pendleton. Their father, James Officer, died around this time, although I can't conclusively pinpoint his death, and his widow, Mary Jane, remarried to Patrick Smith in Pendleton in July 1877.

Does anyone have any information at all on the father, James Officer?  Thank you.

Norfolk / Ian R. Harrison, Genealogist, Norwich
« on: Wednesday 07 June 17 03:03 BST (UK)  »
Many years ago, in the 1980’s to be precise, I made contact with a genealogist, Mr Ian R. Harrison (although I can’t for the life of me remember how I came across his name). His address was P.O. Box 113, Norwich.

I was in the early stages of family research back then, and Ian’s help was invaluable. My research was placed on hold for twenty-odd years whilst I did the family raising thing, and then I took it up again.
Perhaps I may have left it too late to let Ian know how amazingly it all panned out, but if anyone has any knowledge of him, I would be most grateful.

Breconshire / Llyswen House, Brecon
« on: Monday 23 January 17 04:55 GMT (UK)  »
I have two records for baptisms in the parish of Llyswen for the years 1833 and 1834. The place of abode for the parents is given as Llyswen House, and the officiating minister is one William Williams.

Places of abode given for some of the adjacent baptisms on the same pages include:   Church House, Newgarden, Llangoed Castle and another which I can't quite decipher (see photo)

Would anyone have any information on the Rev Williams or any of these places. Thank you
