Wales Resources / Marriage in Bangor October - December 1859
« on: Saturday 15 July 17 14:03 BST (UK)  »
I found the marriage of James Wootton to either Jane Smith or Ellin Roberts in the above quarter. I have checked the Bangor Parish Marriage register and can't find it there. Please could anyone find out where in Bangor James Wootton married and to which girl. I can't locate them after this marriage anywhere.
Thanks paslwigr

??? Keren-Happuch Wootton lived in Tring Hertfordshire, England in 1841 aged 9 years. By October 1847 she was in Michigan marrying, aged 15 a Moses W Boyd aged 28, born in Canada. I have her father and two brothers still in England in 1851 etc. I believe her mother had died in 1842. But I can't find her two sisters either, Jane 12 and Margaret 14 in Tring 1841 again. I have checked Ancestry and Find My Past with no luck. Any help please, I would be so grateful. Thankyou.

Family History Beginners Board / 1861 Census for Wales
« on: Monday 18 January 16 11:40 GMT (UK)  »
I have been trying to find an ancester who died in 1868. Her name is Christiana Williams born 1798 in Worthen Shropshire married to Thomas born c.1808. In 1851 they were living in Pennerley Hill Upper & Nether Heath, Montgomeryshire. They should still be thereabouts in 1861. There does not seem to be any census for this area. Can anybody enlighten me, was this enumeration district lost, or never done. Thankyou.

I am not technical, can someone help me with my problem. I had Windows XP which I loved and was confident with. My FTM Version 10 worked beautifully on it. How can I get my version 10 to work on Windows 8.
I would be most grateful.

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Inquest George Plumb killed 1875
« on: Friday 17 May 13 13:51 BST (UK)  »
George Plumb aged 20 died 23rd July 1875 aged 20 years. He was a labourer [railway excavator] He was accidentally killed whilst discharging dynamite for the purpose of killing fish in Rimmington, so presumably in the River Ribble. An inquest was held 26th July by the deputy coroner of Yorkshire. Is there anyway anyone could check the details of this inquest. I was not sure whether this question should have been under West Yorkshire.

Lancashire / Thomas Percy Heptonstall
« on: Wednesday 22 August 12 10:01 BST (UK)  »
 ???

I am trying to find what happened to a friend's grandfather, Thomas Percy Heptonstall born 1881. He left his wife & children c.1920 probably in the Wallasey/Liscard area and we don't know what became of him. He was known as Percy, but could have changed his name to such as Thomas Percy or Percy Thomas, or in fact to anything. He may have gone abroad or remarried bigamously. If anyone has heard of him after 1920 or knows where he lived or died I would be very grateful.

Ireland / Alenbury? Ireland
« on: Thursday 05 April 12 11:56 BST (UK)  »
 ???

Can anyone tell me whereabouts in Ireland is a place that appears to be spelt Alenbury in the 1911 English census.

My 2 x great grandfather Thomas Brynes [often spelt Brine - Brien - O'Brien etc in the English censuses] was in the workhouse in Fulwood Preston Lancashire in 1911 aged 78 years a widowed brickmaker, and gives this name as the place he was born in Ireland.
Thanks to any kind person who can help.

 ???
My 3rd great grand uncle, George Slater a Catholic born 1788 to John & Elizabeth in Alston Lancashire had a daughter Elizabeth baptised at Alston RC Church in 1810 giving her place of birth as Jersey. Could any kind person check to see if he married in Jersey or died there or had other children there. I haven't been able to discover anything else about him.
Thanks paslwigr
