Down / Campbell and McCullough
« on: Friday 08 April 16 22:02 BST (UK)  »
My 2x great grandfather Robert Campbell was born in Aghaderg, Dromore, County Down in 1850. I have found his baptism record for 5th June 1850. His parents on this record are Daniel Campbell and Hellen/Ellen McCullagh. Try as I might covering every area in Ireland I cannot find a marriage for Roberts Parents. They had another son previous to that in 1845 Jacum Campbell but he was baptised in Farsnagh, Ardboe, Armagh, Londonderry, Tyrone. I am sure there were more children I just can't find them. Can anyone help me and point me in the right direction? Robert went to Scotland. He married in 1871 in Glasgow. I don't know if his parents took him there as a young child or he went alone.

Fife / Hamlet of Leys
« on: Sunday 24 April 11 20:02 BST (UK)  »
Could anyone tell me if the Hamlet of Leys Carnbee is still in existence. I decided to google earth some places my ancestors came from and couldn't find it. This address was given on the 1871 census so I don't really expect it to be there anymore. It's curiosity as to where it was and why it disappeared.

Aberdeenshire / Missing death cert. Help!
« on: Friday 11 August 06 20:32 BST (UK)  »
Can anyone help or point me in the correct direction? Ann Wight married George Alexander Williamson 1849 at Tyrie. I have her on most of the Census returns including the 1901 census. Both Ann and her husband were aged 75 and 72, Ann being the eldest. Her husband George died in 1909 and the cert states that he was a widower. That makes Ann having died sometime between 1901 and 1909. I have spent a small fortune on SP trying to find her death cert. I am in contact with another person who is tracing the same line as myself and he can't find a death cert either. Any suggestions please. Many thanks in advance GEN10

Midlothian / Hallyford House inveresk
« on: Sunday 09 April 06 12:43 BST (UK)  »
Can any one tell me what Hally Ford House was? My 2x g/grandparents lived there, he was a miner. The reason I am asking is that according to death certificates,  three of their children died there. I wondered if it was a tenement block for miners and their families. Any help on the subject gratefully received. Thanks GEN10

Ireland / Daniel Campbell & Helen McCulloch- where?
« on: Monday 03 April 06 19:47 BST (UK)  »
Can anyone help me please. My 3x great grandparents Daniel Campbell and Helen McCulloch were from Ireland where I have not got a clue. Their son Robert Campbell married Mary Myles 1870 in Lanarkshire aged 20, Robert's parents were not mentioned as being deceased on the certificate. I have checked the IGI's and can't find a birth for Robert nor a marriage record for Daniel and Helen. I have no idea where to start or which area in Ireland to start looking. Can anyone give me some advice or even have the resources to to do a lookup for me? Any information would be fantastic.
Thank you, GEN10

Lanarkshire / Mary Blair, Carnwath 1845?
« on: Monday 10 October 05 17:49 BST (UK)  »
Can someone please help me with this query?
I have a 2x ggrandmother Mary Blair born around 1845 in Carnwath Lanarkshire. My problem is, is that I can’t find a birth certificate or a baptism record for her. I have searched SP and the IGI without success. Her mother was Jean Bryce and her father was James Blair, Jean and James were not married. I know they were not married because on her marriage certificate to Edward Crombie on the 21 June 1861 it states that James Blair is the “reputed father”. Mary died 28 March 1931 aged 86 at Burntisland, Fife; this makes her born around 1844-1845. All the census returns that I have for Mary 1871-1901 states that she was born in Carnwath Lanarkshire. Any help on this one would be gratefully received.
